Remember what? Oh. The Invasion of Normandy in WW2, right?

Hear, hear!

Politics MATTERS, as the Political failures that lead to BOTH World Wars clearly show. Hitler COULD have been stopped at several points in his ‘career.’ The Peace Treaty after “The War to End All War” COULD have been drawn less vindictively. And the ‘interlocking alliances’ that lead to WWI could have been less automatic, with ‘pauses for consideration’ to help to avoid the ’headlong rush to War.

New History is created by those who IGNORE the chronicle of those who FAILED before them. Who say “THIS time it’s DIFFERENT!” as they lead their Peoples into the Meat-Grinder, again"

In Memoriam.

Good morning everyone. Happy D-Day to all WW2 veterans. Thank you for your sacrifice for us. God bless all of you!

So many to thank for serving—Thanks to all who served, thanks to the families of those who didn’t come home, thanks to everyone who didn’t serve in the military but who served at home doing all they could to help the war effort with victory gardens, war bond drives, USO, thanks to the celebrities who kept up the morale of those who fought (Bob Hope!), thanks to the doctors and nurses who did all they could to keep the wounded alive, the list of those who deserve our gratitude is long and we should never ever forget. Thanks also to the family of Charles “Sparky” Shultz for keeping his work alive to bring us joy and sometimes a nudge to our consciousness.

70 years of D-Day, from 1996.

To all who survived and didn’t survive those hellacious beach landings, our eternal thanks.

Grateful to Schultz for making this comic; grateful to those in charge now for continuing to post it on this day.

Wow, what happened to poor Snoopy?

Very moving strip, today. My dad was there, in the forth wave to hit the beach. He survived without a scratch. One of the lucky ones. He spent his birthday the day before on a ship, waiting.

To all those unfamiliar with the story of pivotal D-Day there is Cornelius Ryan’s book “The Longest Day” or the excellent movie of the same name based on the book. Summerdog’s mention of the “waiting” triggered the memory. They waited and waited and waited, those men and their commanders, the men on those landing craft and the commanders at command posts trying to preserve as many as possible while getting the job done by the decisions they made.

The National D-Day Memorial is in Bedford, VA. Our town is sending a group of WWII Vets there today on busses labled Omaha and Utah.

There were 42 attempts on Hitlers life during the time he was in power, if any one had succeeded History would have been changed forever. It took the lives of hundreds of thousands of the greatest generation to end WWII and we are in their debt.

The D in D-Day stands for:A) DivergantB) Deliverence C) DayD) Destruction

For anyone that has been to the Normandy Beaches, they know how emotional it is and the sacrifice of so many.

Wait…what??

May we all take time to have a few root beers and remember those that did not come back.

A good day to remember all our WWII vets: The ones who remain with us, the ones who’ve passed on and the ones who never made it home. Of course, there’s no day that ISN’T good to remember the sacrifices they made for us. God Bless all of you…you truly WERE the Greatest Generation.

Let’s remember those who didn’t come back as well as those who did. And let’s help those who made it back but brought the war back home with them (Afghanistan, Iraq, and Vietnam). And let’s hasten the day when disputes between nations can be resolved without ever needing to resort to war.

At the going down of the sun – and in the morningwe will remember them.

I know that this comic is not drawn since Sparkys passing, but I am glad who ever is planning which comic to run each day took the time to show this on the right day of the year. I also have to say THANK YOU to all who have served.

My next door neighbor landed on Juno on June 7th. Thanks Jim.

Always remember, and will never forget, for my own grandfather served during the Second World War, and I will never forget that.

PEANUTS was so special in so many ways. We still need someone like Charles Schultz to show others what it takes to be a real leader. No wonder he won so many awards! All of them so richly deserved.
