Linus sits at the table and writes, "Dear Joe Shlabotnik, How would you like to be our Master of Ceremonies?"<BR><BR> Lucy watches Linuis. Linus continues to write, "We are having a testimonial dinner for our manager who is also your number-one fan."<BR><BR> Linus turns to Lucy and says, "Won't it be great if he can come? Joe Schlabotnik is Charlie Brown's favorite baseball player . . ."<BR><BR> Lucy replies, "He probably won't be able to get away . . . They're pretty busy down at the car wash!"<BR><BR>

Seems to me, that Joe Shlabotnik is(or was)not real, for two reasons: 1-I have never heard of any baseball player, or player of any other sport for that matter, by that name, and 2-even in Peanuts, there is some evidence, to support that,e.g., Christmas 1969, when there was that sports banquet that Linus, Charlie Brown, and Snoopy all went to, where every athlete EXCEPT Joe Shlabotnik showed up. So it makes you wonder, if perhaps Shlabotnik really is fictional.
