I can hardly wait for my brother’s older son to get out of his crib on his own; boy’s like twenty months old!

I’d say that someone’s ready to graduate to a big girl’s bed!

When my little brother started doing this, my parents decided to let him “graduate” to a bed. Unfortunately, due to lots of circumstances, the only place he could go was in my (twin) bed. We shared for a few weeks, but he kept pushing me out. I finally ended up sleeping on the floor for a few months until one of my older sisters left home…then I got HER bed.

One of my earliest memories is reaching out with my arm and “punching” the kick-release mechanism to lower the side of the crib. It would drop down and stop with just enough room between the mattress and the top rail to not crush my arm.

Mom said she gave up on both cribs and daytime naps that day.

It’s scary time when your kids learn to do that. Luckily out of three kids, only had one leg break due to that trick.

Time to raise the bars. Celling height. Oh, and get her a tin cup. And maybe a harmonica.

I remember weekend mornings hearing the feet hit the floor after climbing over the side of the crib.
