Since we’re now in the cordless phone age, how do you make a tin can phone like those?

It only works if the string is kept taut.

Italian Antonio Meucci invented the telephone – Bell was only richer to pay the patent

Ummmm i just realized that peanuts begins is based on the old peanuts comics, like big nate, only in colour here. Don’t make fun of me for that, though.

Note the house under the horizon. By the time this strip was drawn, it was 50 year old comic device.

    1. Two cans, making sure the edges are not sharp.2. Punch a hole in the bottom of each, feed a string through, and use something (a button, a toothpick, anything) to tie the string to and keep it from slipping back out3. Pull the string taut (thanks, @gimmickgenius, so many comics etc. miss this point)4. Speak/listen at the open end. The can concentrates your voice and the vibrations are transmitted down the taut string to the other can, which amplifies your voice.

This might be the strip where Snoopy was a completely generic dog. Neither early Snoopy nor Snoopy from any other era would recognize each other!

Works best if you soak the string in water first.

And that’s why they make the lines so high. Snoopy is lucky this one isn’t an electrical line.
