Three million years ago, the australopithecines Lug and Wug are walking across the African veldt when there’s a rustling in the tall grass. Lug thinks “it’s a lion” and runs off screaming. Wug thinks “it’s the wind” and laffs at Lug. Same thing happens another 98 times. Then, on the 100th occasion, it really IS a lion. Wug (whose skepticism has been absolutely justified so far) becomes lunch, but Lug gets to pass his pattern-recognition gene on to the next generation, along with a dread-inspiring cautionary tale.
Thus our predisposition to see things, patterns, and especially living beings that aren’t really there, a tendency I call the “secret-agent theory”.* In more dangerous ancient times it was better to be safe than sorry, and that’s the biology we organic humans have inherited.**

The superior beings who know that any other belief than that of the universe coming into existence from a singularity that exploded into the universe we know today is nonsense should put their proof into a book for all people to read. They could start it of with, “In the beginning there was darkness,”Any similarity to from one belief to the other is pure coincidence.

Sorry, Bob, at glance there’s a good chance that you are now fully a GQPer, and evolution = change, and we all know how your team is with handling change, which is snowflakey………………………I am aware that not everyone here is comfortable with this simple fact. It’s ok if we disagree. Snowflake away:
I used to live in Cleveland, OH. Ice Fishing is a thing in that part of the world. The Coast Guard helps by notifying people when the ice is thick enough in the fall/winter and when it is too thin in the winter/spring. Every year some dummy will decide he knows better and go out after the warning of too thin ice. His pickup then breaks through the ice and he calls for help. The Coast Guard will go out pick him up, leave his truck and gear. Upon landing they will give him a bill for the rescue, and a VERY expensive ticket for polluting the lake with his pickup truck. They will also tell him it is his responsibility to have his truck removed from the lake bottom by a salvage company.
Lake Erie fish are tasty, but nothing is THAT tasty.
Those darn Walking Catfish have invaded everywhere.
Note: True Fact: It is illegal to own, buy, sell, trade or transport live walking catfish in Florida without a permit. The darn things are an Invasive species from Southeast Asia that tends to destroy the other wildlife in the waters they invade.

Sure sign of the end, when critters walk backwards as they devolve.

Saw a news item where a bunch of pickups parked on the ice and then got a good washing inside and out when they sank thru the ice.

Don’t worry about that. If he tells that story at his bar, someone will provide a net.

The change you are observing is not happening. These are not the fish you are fishing for.

Time/Eons fly when your having fun. Or an advanced stage of hypothermia.
You might want to look into what that chemical plant is dumping into the pond.

If they’re evolving in winter, I recommend they evolve some snowshoes before getting out on the ice.

All those chemicals that have been spilled into streams.

Instead of the fisherman having to sit there, waiting for a bite, the fish just come walking up out of the water? Looks like a pretty good deal to me.

Yeah, it’s evolving that way.
