Yup, the game ain’t slow enough as it is

As a former sports official my thinking was always there were three teams on the field. The two playing the game and the officials. All three are attempting to do as good of a job as possible. Mistakes are made by all three that can change the game. Maybe they should give do overs on busted plays, fumbles, interceptions, missed tackles, etc.

Getting lawyers involved always complicates everything.

Back in the middle years of the last century of the last millennium, I participated in sports in my junior high and high school days. We players were taught that “bad calls” were as much a part of the game as helmets, shoulder pads, and goal posts. Some such calls went against us, some benefitted us. While I appreciate wanting to get the call right, I do think that even the officials should have some sort of play-clock, just like the players. If you can’t make up your mind in 30 seconds, the call stands as called. Deal with it.

look at rugby, the play only stops if there’s a score, the ball goes out of bounds or there are too many bodies on top of the ball to move it. ball hits the ground and it’s who ever gets it first.

THIS IS WHAT I’M TALKIN’ ABOUT!!!

My only complaint about watching American football is the wasted time. 7 second play then 4-6 minutes of dead time then a 7 second play etc etc.

This is why international sports have gone more towards cameras and sensors.

And yet they often don’t get it right.

Why there is another hour left AFTER the 2 minute warning.

I am surprised Bill Hinds (Tank McNamara) hasn’t done a strip like this.

With all the concussions in the NFL, we’ll be seeing more of this
