Don’t you mean Congre$$.
Follow the money, that is what many members of Congress do, follow the money of the lobbies.
CONgress: opposite of PROgress.
The path least travelled doesn’t look that unsafe and is in the same direction as the prior path – instead of the circular path the Congress sign is taking him on.
Call me ageist, sexist, and I guess racist (but I don’t think I am) – I say throw all the old white guys out! They are too invested in their own fiefdoms.
Wiley is complaining because he’s gotten hooked up with an arguably false definition of “what can get done”. Because in reality, if Congress won’t do it, then it can’t be done.
That must be a Men’s Only path. You know a woman would take that right turn.
i could be wrong, but shouldn’t the path of least resistance lead…. downwards?!?
The current incarnation of the Republican Party is dedicated to the strategy of obstruction to prove that government institutions do not work — so that voters will elect them to more rapidly destroy those institutions.
The one bill that gets full, 100% unanimity in passage every every year is the annual Congressional raise in pay!!
(Meanwhile, over on Gun Control Trail, the Senate and Supreme Court opted for opposite directions.)
he guy can’t be a pol. He is actually trying to decide about which path. Pols automatically follow the path of their predecessors.
Two roads diverged in a wood and I – I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. R. Frost
It is what the dems do.
That sign should say “term limits”
“Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself.”
“It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress.”
“I never can think of Judas Iscariot without losing my temper. To my mind Judas Iscariot was nothing but a low, mean, premature, Congressman.”
- Mark Twain.
A politician’s first duty is to get re-elected. The second duty is to please the major donors. The third duty is to support the party. The fourth duty is boondoggling on “fact finding” missions (think Cancun). The fifth duty (if there is time) is to pay lip service to the minions otherwise known as constituents.
There are documents at state and Federal levels known as PDCs – Public Disclosure Commission. These documents show from where a candidate gets funding.
It is interesting to see how many elected officials have a majority shareholder who like corporate board member tell him what to do.
The problem with the PDCs is that a lot of doners hide behind fancy names like “Citizens for Better Government” or “Save America” or “America First.”
I think the whole lobbying system was best summed up by Senator Ted Cruz of Texas who said. “To America’s watch-me-woke-it-up CEOs I say: When the time comes that you need help with a tax break or a regulatory change, I hope the Democrats take your calls, because we may not.”
Pay for play and since money is free speech, big companies and billionaires have more free speech than ordinary citizens. “All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.” – George Orwell.
I’m asking for a friend, what’s the current price for a supreme court judge?
You know what’s a very efficient form of government?
No discussion, just give the order and it get done.
However, you may not be please with ‘It", especially when it’s done to you or your family.
Representation is messy, discussion is time consuming and the result will at best be something all parties can tolerate. B/c no one gets “their way” in a fair system. It’s compromise.
When it’s viewed as 2 teams, and neither will agree to anything the other “side” broaches, then they aren’t doing their jobs. It’s not “my way or the highway”, it’s hammering out a way to get the stupid highway built.
"R"ight now we appear to have one side that thinks it’s a team, representing a cult. And that their only job is criticizing any progress. All progress is a learning experience and WILL come with mistakes/adjustments/amendments.
Just bitching about them isn’t a virtue.
AGreed. It is long past time to do these things which Congress keeps refusing to do:
1. Repeal Obamacare
2. Bill the Border Fence.
3. Abolish the Department of Education.
4. End Woke and CRT programs in the military and all Federal egencies.
5. Investigate Hunter and Joe Biden’s payola scheme from China, Ukraine and Russian oligarchs.
6. Impeach Joe Biden for failing to enforce law on illegal immigration and Merrick Garland for refusing to investigate BLM and Anti-fa riot instigators and for failing to arrest the protestors breaking the law by protesting at SCOTUS justices homes
7. Remove Tony Fauci from office for crimes against humanity
Frankly, “government” gets quite a bit done. Congress just keeps them from doing to much to fast for the citizenry to appreciate the effort..
Newt Gingrich made elected civil service into war against the Democratic Party…and Wall Street owns the place…(Dick Durbin)
No, it’s what Must get done. Sadly, it’s not what will get done.
File this under “Sad but True.”
To give a nod to Congress, the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol, the United States House of Representatives has done an excellent job of slicing and dicing Trump.
“The US is safest when Congress is in recess.”
“With Congress, every time they make a joke it’s a law, and every time they make a law it’s a joke.”
“Congress is going to start tinkering with the Ten Commandments just as soon as they find someone in Washington who has read them.”
On the congress path:”Road Closed”
Don’t forget the polls!
I don’t think that’s correct. The sign to the right should only read “What should and can get done”. The sign to the right should read “What will get done (Congress)”
In the immortal words of Yip Harburg:In answer to the question, “Should I write a letter to my Congressman?” —
Each Congressman has got two ends, -a sitting and a thinking end, -But since his whole success depends upon his seat, —Why bother friend?
That’s just it, different people have different opinions about what should, can and will get done. It’s hard to define that as the same path for most people.
For the past two years, the Senate was proven to be the bigger barrier. And today, the Supreme Court has once again proven their Republican partisanship instead of progressing down the less traveled path. For those who insisted that the elimination of the constitutional rights to contraception, as well as LGTBQ rights, were only in danger in the eyes of the paranoid and conspiratorial kooks, Supreme Court judge Clarence Thomas has today proven otherwise. https://is.gd/OCPVdq
Hey at least they passed a minimalist gun control law while the Supremes opened the door for more and better mass killings
It is truly hard to find good people willing to persevere through the most incredibly tedious meetings ever attended and work all kinds of extra time getting elected solely for the personal satisfaction of a job well done.
“It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress.”….Mark Twain. Imagine what he would think now! For your edification: http://www.twainquotes.com/Congress.html
Let’s declare Mar-Al-Lego a State,so we can see up close how bad Trump is at running it.
One useless man is a disgrace. Two useless men become a law firm, and three or more become a congress. And by God I’ve had this Congress,… (Attributed to John Adams, at least in 1776.)
Not sure which is worse, Congress that doesn’t do much of anything or the Supreme Court, which does too much of the wrong thing.
What we need is term limits for Congress.
Roe vs. Wade – Overturned. The government does not represent the will of the people.
Shouldn’t the sign that says congress be pointing backwards? I mean they don’t seem to go forward with anything they do.
One thing for sure, we live in a delusional conservative hell hold. Republicans, taking away freedom one bad Supreme Court judgement at a time.
“Every nation has the government it deserves.”—Joseph de Maistre
Might want to add Supreme Court to that sign as well.
Aye! we got the best government that money- can-buy
The job isn’t legislation. It’s getting reelected. Many get that one done regularly.
Beautiful Wiley…sooo good.
As Yogi Berra once said – “When you come to a fork in the road, take it”.
Never follow the herd. They have fouled everything in their path.
Oh….Congress gets stuff done. It’s seldom stuff we the people want done, but still.
The Road Not Taken.
Yeah, well reelect all democrats + replace 10 republicans and you will see what can get done. STAND FOR FREEDOM STAND FOR DEMOCRACY VOTE BLUE
First thing they need to do right now is codify Roe v Wade into law.
Too bad that more is languishing on purpose than by accident.
Yes. CONgress IS the opposite of PROgress.
