Danae: Can you settle an argument for us, Daddy? Joe: I'll try. Danae: If you say a word that isn't a swear word, but you mean it in the same way, is it still cussing? Joe: Uh... I'm gonna go with yes... Danae: Oh, piffle... Lucy: Hey, watch your mouth.
The issue is: What is your intent in using the word? You can turn any word into a swear word if that is your intent, even ‘darn’ and ‘dang’.Then the question is: What kind of person are you, do you respect others or do you only care about yourself? Would you chose to not use recognizable swear words to be respectable to others, and then would you chose not to use made-up swear words to be respectable to yourself.Originally swear words were used to evoke curses. Just hearing the swear, much less using it, evoked a curse on yourself (and possibly another person it was directed at). If you believe in such things (not just pagans, magic, but also Christianity, Judaism) then you should be fearful to use a swear word.
