Government experts have never lied to us before.

“We’re #@ed” is exactly what I muttered when I saw “An Inconvenient Truth” in 2006.

I listened to a self-described scientist on a late night talk show who said the current information about climate change was all wrong (!) – it’s not CO2 or methane, or the destruction of forests. He said all that stuff was simply misleading. The government did not want people to know the real cause was “Chemtrails” – those white clouds spreading out behind high-flying commercial jets, resulting in toxic chemicals raining down to poison us, the atmosphere, and every living thing.

Apparently some unnamed entity is mixing fly ash, a byproduct of burning coal, with jet fuel, and that is what produces those poisonous clouds that are the source of all global warming.

Unfortunately, I’ve heard this gentleman before and I recognized his argument about global warming on this same late night talk show going back for 15 years or so. This time he never quite got to identifying the sinister forces paying to haul coal ash to fuel depots (it’s heavy and not cheap to transport) to be mixed with jet fuel (does a cement type granular material even mix with jet fuel?). In previous talks familiar names like Soros and possibly other business associates have designs on controlling the world but it’s not clear how poisoning the air will help achieve their grand design.

I chuckled and went back to sleep. But, I know there are others who want to believe that, just like Covid, climate change is a hoax, and if we just look carefully enough, among the right ethnic groups, we’ll find the real culprits.

@Same2Ubuddy – We are not talking about “government experts,” though your prejudice against them is obvious.

We are talking about the rigorous scientific findings and life-work of THOUSANDS of scientists doing TENS OF THOUSANDS of research projects over the past fifty years, when it started getting more active.

We KNOW, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that human-caused global warming is happening, and that if we don’t do something significant soon, we will have dramatic transformations in the climate which will affect our civilization, the complex interactions among countries, and the ability to grow and distribute food as well as obtaining water.

The real problem, as depicted in the cartoon, is people like you who are unwilling to look facts in the face, and come up with rationalizations about why they don’t have to pay attention.

The question is, are we going to squabble about who lied (or didn’t) all the way to extinction, or are we going to work on solving as much of the problem as is still possible?

The 70s were termed The Me Decade.

For a noisy and noisome minority, our times are The Me First Decade.

Sacrifice for the good of the community and the country? Heck, there are people who won’t even submit to wearing a mask, something no more inconvenient than wearing sunglasses.

“Remember, almost every science fiction book or movie starts out with the government refusing to listen to the scientists” Even truer in real life.
