Canada has had people coming across the border because they feared that they would be deported from the US. One guy lost his hand because of frostbite.

You don’t have to stop the coming group of immigrants, they will probably continue into Canada. That is the tactic we use in Europe. If we do nothing, they will continue to England. Let us be honest, who will stay in America now, except for a few weapon freaks?(Please, don’t take my comments too seriously.)

a question for my fellow north americans, canadians,….with climate change taking over what would be the best province of canada to move too in terms of being effected by said climate change?….as if you would take me, an aging paunchy american….but my wife has visited you nation several times and has nothing but good things to say….and if i might suggest…it would be best to be proactive and tighten your canadian immigration laws concerning americans and republicans(snark)…..

If Trump stays in charge long enough people will be fleeing from the United States to Mexico.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s Canada or Mexico, they still have Trump in the middle, telling them how things should be done.

Please stay and help us vote these crooks comprehensively out of office in 2020.

Unless they are teargassing your children, or threatening to shoot you for Walking While Not White Supremacists.

I know everyone has WTF fatigue with trump, but we must never get used to the horror of trump in the White House.

Canada is a lovely nation – I’ve spent significant time in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montréal – but they tightened down on American immigration after the Vietnam War days, and they’re very, very tough on any Americans they think might take work from Canadians — especially consultants. I once got grilled in a windowless room until I explained that I was coming from the home office to teach our Canadian office how to do our business without me.

A new installment in the continuing series: Adventures in Socialized Medicine. Last Saturday late afternoon I began to fear that I might be having appendicitis. I checked various webpages, and they said See a doctor right away. So I went down to the Emergency Department at the nearest hospital. It was packed. I registered with the triage nurse at 6:00 pm. I expected to wait for many hours. I was called in to a doctor at 7:30. She did a workup and said I needed blood and urine tests and a CT scan. I gave the blood and urine and went to wait for the CT scan. They called me for the CT scan at 9:20. I expected a long wait for the results. At 10:30 the doctor called me back in, and gave me the results of all the tests—I won’t give details, but it’s easily treated and not appendicitis. I was out before 11:00. All the staff at the hospital was extremely helpful and friendly. And of course all of this I get just by showing my health card. Canada is by no means perfect, and the Canadian heath-care system is by no means perfect. But the terrible things that some people say about it are just not true.

I often wonder what it is like for those who live on the US Canada border for those who have to commute, for example. I have relatives in Michigan who are near Winnipeg, I think. They say getting over and back is way different from years ago. Also, some have a special ID, not a passport, which gets you back and forth if you must commute. I’m in Kansas so it is not part of my world.

HuffPost has an article about how Geraldo Rivera had a meltdown regarding the way migrants are being treated at the border. Rivera has a heart regarding people who look like him, how about that?

“Up” seems like a better choice than “North”, given the current state of the climate. (And buy plenty of land when you get there: you’re going to have a lot of applicants to join you.)

Are you are either the victim of past persecution or do you have a well-founded fear of future persecution? In the case of past persecution, you must prove that you were persecuted in your home country or last country of residence.

The persecution must have been based on at least one of five grounds, either your:

    political opinion,

or membership in a particular social group.

Unemployment is not included. The crime rate in your home country is not included. Dissatisfaction with your government, your neighbors or your lot in life is not included.

So, can you qualify under the five grounds? No? Then go home and apply for a visa like most people do.
