Hope and Change Nobody Believes In!-————————————————————————————Here’s a good article from yesterday’s liberal Washington Post…………..
“Obama ends his fifth year in office with lower approval ratings than almost all other recent two-term presidents…… All other post-World War II presidents were at or above 50 percent at this point in their second terms, except Richard M. Nixon, whose fifth year ended in 1973 with an approval rating of 29 percent because of the Watergate scandal that later brought impeachment and his resignation.” -———————————————-“Obama also has lost the lead he enjoyed on who could better deal with the economy. Today Republicans are at 45 percent to Obama’s 41 percent.”
Thank you for your accurate and non-biased history lesson. You said it at least as well as I could have.
In my opinion, if Mr. Nixon had just made a speech to the nation stating that wrongs had been done, that they were a mistake, and that even if he had nothing to do with it, the buck stops at his desk, I’m pretty sure the subject would have been closed (at least where he himself was concerned). Similarly, if Mr. Clinton had stated that he had strayed, that he was sorry, and that it truly should be just between him and his wife, impeachment would have been a much more difficult ploy.
There’s a reason why people say that honesty is the best policy.
Wow, excellent summary. Unfortunately, Gerald Ford closed off any investigation of other possible misdeeds when he pardoned President Nixon who went to San Clemency, California. So, if there weren’t, we won’t likely ever know.

Might be interesting to see how far back those files go on “indiscretions of government agencies”.

Nixon signed NEPA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Ford “ended” the Viet Nam war, not Nixon.
