If you really want a discussion re Fox news it requires the ability to think outside the box. It doesn’t matter if you personally agree with the following, it is what literally millions and millions of conservatives, Republicans and Libertarians believe.
If we want “fair” “balanced” news there are literally zero places for us to watch or read other than Murdoch. To us the NYT, WaPo, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC etc are hopelessly biased pro liberals, pro-Obama, and pro-Democratic party.
Our country is basically split 50-50. The reason Fox outdraws all the other cable news stations combined is that it is the only option we have. You split your attention amongst all the previously listed outlets, we have one.
Now here is where your problem comes in. The biggest opportunity for any news station to exert influence is by its option of which stories to run. The MSM routinely chooses to run stories favorable to its agenda. Thus 50% of Americans never hear any discouraging words. Libya was not a big deal to the public left because the liberal MSM played it way way down. Obama, Rice lied and royally screwed up but the left public never heard the story. They were protecting Obama for the election. There are 2 sides to the fiscal cliff problem. Bet, that thought never occurred to you because only one side is featured on the MSM.
When a liberal turns on Fox he hears stories he has never heard of before and assumes this is part of the Fox agenda when in reality it is the only place negative Obama stories ever appear.
You know all about Romney and his taxes- the MSM front-paged it for weeks. Where did Obama go to college? What were his grades? Was he affirmative action? What did his classmates think about him? How close was he to Rev Wright? Who were the terrorists who backed him? What is happening in Guantanamo?
You don’t know? Of course not but an independent press would have been on those like they were on Romney taking his dog for a ride.
Because the MSM doesn’t publish an item does not mean it is not news, it just means the only place to read about it is on Fox. You remain in a state of shock because you are seeing stories you have never heard of and assume they can’t be factual because they haven’t been carried by the MSM
