Well done! Note the characters appearing in the paper Nancy wrapped the record in.
So this IS the end of the Nancy ’toon. So sorry to see it go…
What a lovely way to bring it to an end… and we’ll always have Classic Nancy!
Thanks for taking a comic I grew up with and making it relevant. Your team made reading this old girl fun again. Best wishes for a great future.
Thank you, Guy, for all the fun and memories! Ernie would be proud!
Where are Rollo and Erma and all the rest of the gang? “Wouldn’t it be nice” if we could see them again, one more time.
But best wishes, Guy. I guess it’s all over now.
Thank you Guy,I’ve grown up with Nancy and I wish her and her family happiness in whatever is next for them.
Definitely going to miss this, Guy, but tell me- is that you performing the ceremony? Are you an ordained minister?
Seriously, though, whatcha going to be up to?
First comic I learned to read, after years of looking at the pictures, was Nancy. Then Peanuts. Long long ago.
Thank you, Guy. “Nancy” has been beautiful in every way, and today’s strip is the best I’ve ever seen. Best wishes to you, and thank you again.
Wouldn’t it be nice if Nancy started all over from the beginning? From where Fritzi started and then Nancy showed up? We’d all like to see that.
Very nicely done! Thank you, Guy, for the years you put into this strip and for the great conclusion here today!
So sorry to see the strip end after so many decades; I hope GoComics does the reruns from where you started.
I guess we’ll just have to wait to see what GoComics does tomorrow.
Thank you Guy, Guess Nancy has gone with the Angels Speak. But I am very sad. Both strips were rays of sunlight in an darkening world.
Thanks for all the good work, Guy. You managed to put your own stamp on it while keeping the spirit of the original. Thank you so much.
“And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love, you make…” ……………………………………………………………………………………….“I imagine she’s a pretty nice girl”….
As a little girl I stayed with my great aunts and uncle on weekends. My uncle had to get up early with my uncle so he’d read the paper and give me the funny pages. That’s when my love of Nancy began. That was in the 50’s. Thanks for bringing it all back for me and letting us all say good-bye.
…So the "Nam vet ex-truckers are ( Both of them?) Phil’s uncles? And they will be full-time parents to uhh I now? As I said yesterday, I didn’t know they were designated characters til’ this art, I did indeed miss the earlier arc that established this…
…They appear to have gone to the unt May Looking Like Proper Old People school!!!!!!!!!!! A ’ ‘Nam vet could easily be 62 or so, maybe a little younger…Brad’s name was on last week’s Sunday too IIRC, and tbis week’s is " A Guy Gilchrist Production "…
…Blunebottle, the picture of Guy at his Twitter feed shows him with far darker hair and less facial foilage
Nice wedding gown on Fritzi, by the way. Also, nice music choice; me, I would have saved it for the bride and groom’s first dance at the reception, but I guess things were pressed for time. (With the Captain and Tennille’s The Way I Want to Touch You thrown in for good measure.) And so, the Gilchrist Era moves to the Nancy Classics page (along with all the drooling Fritzi v.2.0 fans awaiting her reappearance). As I previously said, thank you for making faith a pillar of the strip, instead of a punchline or a punching bag. Well done, and Godspeed in your next project!
Speaking of music, I’m surprised Three Rocks doesn’t seem to have a bagpiper in town. The Wedding Song (There is Love) works very nicely on the pipes, and would have made a good entrance for the bride at the ceremony.
I’ve really enjoyed your run, Guy. Thanks so much!
I think I will miss this more than I thought I would. Thanks for the strip!
What happens tomorrow? Reruns?
Hate to see this end, but a wonderful way to go out. Thank you Guy for all you’ve done for the strip and good luck with your future work.
The real act of marriage takes place in the heart, not in the ballroom or church or synagogue. It’s a choice you make – not just on your wedding day, but over and over again – and that choice is reflected in the way you treat your husband or wife. Barbara De Angelis

A wedding, a great wedding, is just a blast. A celebration of romance and community and love… What is unfun about that? Nothing. Ariel Levy
The most dangerous food is wedding cake. James Thurber
I was married by a judge. I should have asked for a jury. Groucho Marx
Our whole wedding cost 180 bucks. Afterward, we re-heated lasagna for everyone and set off fireworks. Larry the Cable Guy
All weddings, except those with shotguns in evidence, are wonderful. Liz Smith
No jealousy their dawn of love overcast, nor blasted were their wedded days with strife; each season looked delightful as it past, to the fond husband and the faithful wife. James Beattie
Goodbye Three Rocks. :(
Thank you, Guy! Total joy in Three Rocks, no joy for the rest of us after today!
Thank you for the extended years of Nancy. I’ve been with her as long as I could read.
Farewell! Hope eventually someone else takes over the strip, as Guy did after Jerry Scott’s run.
The best way to read today’s strip is while listening to the Beach Boy’s doing “Wouldn’t it be nice”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lD4sxxoJGkA
I agree. A lovely way to end the strip. But it’s hard to see it go. I’m 75 and have seen the strip all my life. Another great one gone. It’s true that some of the newer strips are as good as the old ones, but generally I don’t think they are funny, don’t understand them or both. Thanks Mr. G.
Thanks, Guy, for a fun run, and good luck going forward.
I will really miss this ray of sunshine in my day. I grew up with Nancy, & just rediscovered her a few months ago. I do hope that there will be a Nancy classics. Sigh. Beautiful ending, though. Saw the Beach Boys in concert many times during my high school years of 70-74 in Southern California. Lots of great memories flooding back with today’s strip. Sigh.
What away to end my day
After the week we had in our schools we need to right world We live in starting NRA
Pearl: It’s over, isn’t it?
I’ll add my thanks, Guy. “Nancy” has always been such a positive, feel-good comic, and I’m sorry to see it end. The finale is kind of hitting me hard, too, now that it’s here. I respect your wishes regarding the strip, though, and wish you all the best in the future. Come back and see us.
I, too, would love to see a reboot of the strip from the beginning. I suspect we may have to wait a few days or a week, but it’d be nice.
Long live “Nancy” …
Thank you Guy for a great comic all these years. Like many others here I grew up reading Nancy and appreciate the nice ending.Best of luck.
I’ve been reading Nancy for about 57 years and have seen comic books back to almost WW2. Out of all the authors, Guy is the best. The strips have more feeling and the drawings are softer. Sluggo has more of a personality. And Fritzi loves all of the oldies that I do! I will miss the most Oona and her loveable strangeness (which I wish Guy had done more of). Farewell, Guy, and many blessings to you on your new endeavors!
Ya know what?
As much as I loved reading Nancy, what I was really impressed with was that you, Guy, replied to one of my comments!
I want you to know that you made my day! No, you made my week!
What a great way to end it ! Thanks so much for keeping her going !
Thank you for a happy ending (though I wish it wasn’t an ending). It’s going to be hard to live happily ever after with no new Nancy strips to look forward to.
Guy This comic has always been my favorite one . Thanks for bringing us the joy in it!
know I am getting old as those comic strips I have followed for 40+ years are ending. thank you for your artistry. this strip and themes will be missed. blessings for your future.
This is so depressing. I have tears in my eyes knowing that I’m saying goodbye to one of the best strips of my entire life. It has been there and been my friend through the long years. Sorry to see it go!!!!
Now Nancy will join Little Iodine, Little Lulu, Dondi, Winthrop, and Priscilla and her Pop —those delightful comic book and comic strip children who brightened many lives. They are gone from our pages but will live forever in our hearts. Goodbye, Nancy.
I guess I didn’t realize the strip was ending. I have been reading Nancy for over 50 years and will miss it. Thanks for a great strip.
Will Nancy and Company now go to the Old Comics’ Home that comes up occasionally in Gasoline Alley?
I would so much like a continuation of the cat which Sluggo found, the orange one, – forgot his name – who spoke slang…. I loved him so much!!!! Just a new/followup comic only of the adventures of that cat, the rest of the persons would be … environmental/context…. that would be nice.
Thank you for decades of enjoyment. I began reading Nancy as soon as I could in the 50’s. I will miss it. My best to you all.
Thanks Guy! I’ve enjoyed Nancy since the 60’s; sorry to see the strip go but your send-off was well done and satisfying. Best of luck to you in your new ventures.
Did anyone else notice the cartoonist put his name in the comic five tines? Ego much?
Fritzi’s face in panel 1 tho…
