When I was in college and home for the summer, there was a guy with a case of Bud hitching alone the highway into town. Of course I picked him up. He gave me a six pack when I let him off so when I asked him if he did this often, he said every week end and had never had to walk home from the liquor store. 45 years ago. Another time, another place.
The desiccated corpse found in the desert just off the road two weeks later was suspected by the forensic anthropologist of being Monty, who was still missing. But unfortunately there were no good samples of Montague Montahue available for comparison….
