Interesting how the GQP in congress just made up with him. They are already talking about how they will run congress next year and Kevin will be the Speaker
It’s not “truth” that McCarthy lacks when he speaks — it’s honesty and integrity. I believe the most important part of character for a politician is integrity. You can drop several current day politicians into the pool of “lacks integrity”. They speak what they believe their base wants to hear, true or false. And often change the tune if someone tells them it’s not working. You pick the names.
Being caught acting like a responsible citizen after lying about it for so long? Well, hypocrisy deserves a standing ovation in today’s Republican party. It’s part of its DNA, and they seem ultra-proud of it.
Conservative: Kevin McCarthy isn’t just lying to stay in power – something more ‘disturbing’ is going on
Carpenter writes: “It’s not enough to describe McCarthy as a liar who will betray anyone within his vicinity to protect his position atop the MAGA dump. Something is happening on a more disturbing level.”
“What’s disorienting about McCarthy’s machinations is that what the House Republican leader is trying to defend and explain away is his temporary display of honesty. After the ugliness and the deaths of the attack on the Capitol, McCarthy—and the Senate Republican leader, Mitch McConnell, whose private comments about Trump have also been leaked—came to their senses. McCarthy and McConnell said they were fed up with Trump and remarked how he could be removed, with McConnell asking a reporter about the Twenty-fifth Amendment and both men discussing impeachment.”
In Carpenter’s opinion, McCarthy and McConnell knew that Trump was bad for the GOP and the United States. They agreed that he was at least partially to blame for the violence on Jan. 6 and talked about how to get the Republican party to ostracize him.
“Yet neither man publicly called on Trump to resign,” she writes. "Neither man voted to impeach or convict Trump. In public, they attacked the proposal for an independent Jan. 6th commission. They said they would support Trump as the 2024 nominee. And their various fundraising apparatuses are now in overdrive praising and promoting the former president.
“That makes them garbage men. Not in the usual sense of garbage men, mind you—the hardworking folks who collect and dispose of our trash so we can all live cleaner, healthier lives. McCarthy and McConnell do the opposite: They’ll occasionally cleanse their consciences in private, dump their political garbage on us, and think the stink won’t follow them as they retire to their comfortable chambers.”
The Cricket always leads me straight to Cliff Edwards, or Ukulele Ike, the ex-vaudeville stare who revived his career doing voice overs for Disney. His private life was based on burning the candle at both ends. He was the voice of Doc in “Snow White,” one of the crows in “Dumbo” and worked in many other Disney movies. He also sang the theme song on the “Disneyland” TV show. He made some great party records with titles like “I’m a Bear in a Lady’s Boudoir.”
I find the similarities in approach between the RWNJ and the Russians both staggering and worrying.
Back the good old days of the Cold War (as the seem now) the Soviets wanted at least the fig leaf of ‘plausible deniability’. When the did bad things they could count on an element of doubt because of cut outs and 3rd party patsies.
Now, they want ‘implausible deniability’, also known as lying. Sending 2 Russian agents to poison a a defector in Salisbury with a nerve agent only the Russians produced. Said agents were only in Salisbury to look at the world famous cathedral. Attacking the Ukraine to ‘de-Nazi-fy’ it, as a defensive operation, a special military operation. Poisoning opposition leaders, jailing and killing reporters, forcing down airlines over client states to arrest activists. The list goes on.
And the GQP is working from the same playbook. Everyone but some deluded conspiracists who only get their news from the Dark Web and the voices in their heads know what happened on 6th Jan and who was responsible, that Joe B won hands down, the Mexican border is not collapsing, Antifa are not burning down your top 100 cities, CRT is not being taught below post-degree level law course, trans kids are not the result of abuse and coercion from family/teachers, easy access to abortion and proper sex ed results in less unwanted pregnancies. But the ‘implausible deniability’, also known as lying, continues. And the rot is spreading, checkout what is happening int he Brit parliament if you want a good laugh, or maybe a good cry.
Trump said Kevin McCarthy has an ‘inferiority complex’: New book
Donald Trump said House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy had an ‘inferiority complex’ and that he didn’t take the lawmaker’s anger following the January 6 Capitol riot seriously, according to a new book excerpt released on Thursday.
The criticism from McCarthy’s fellow Republican leader Mitch McConnell, however, did not sit as easily with the former president.
Trump thinks he would still be in the White House had it not been for the Senate Minority Leader, he told New York Times journalists Jonathan Martin and Alex Burns for their book ‘This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America’s Future.’
The former president called the Kentucky legislator ‘bad news’ months after the January 6 Capitol riot, in the spring of 2021, in an excerpt obtained by Punchbowl News.
‘Had Mitch stuck with many members of the party who knew the election was rigged, I think we wouldn’t be at Mar-a-Lago,’ the ex-leader said.
‘We would be at the White House having this conversation.’
Traitor Trump still pushes the idea that the majority of American voters “stole the election” from him.
The terminal fascist narcissist would bring down the county and make himself dictator because the majority rejected the republican criminal conspiracy.
Kremlin Kevin needs to have his dishonest cowardly ass dragged in front of the January 6th committee—where he will no doubt commit multiple counts of felony perjury.
(By the way, I never have read or heard “Kremlin Kevin” before, but there’s always the chance of independent coining of words or terms, so I might not be the first to nickname him that. Then again, maybe I am……)
“Hi, I’m Kevin McCarthy, and I’d like to apologize profoundly and sincerely to all my family, friends, and followers. I don’t know what came over me. I’m totally ashamed and embarrassed that, in a fit of temporary insanity, I foolishly spoke the truth out loud. Please forgive me.”
