The GOP was, once, a political party. Too bad it died and came back as an evil zombie.
Today’s extremist, radicalized Qrazy Qonspiracy theory TrumpubliQan Qult Qonservatives will not take the slightest steps towards keeping battlefield-grade weapons of war out of the hands of terrorists, convicted violent criminals, domestic violence abusers or severely mentally ill persons or anyone who wants to take a military-grade weapon into a church, nightclub, concert, or PUBLIC SCHOOL FILLED WITH LITTLE CHILDREN, but they will SPARE NO EFFORT to “protect” children from being exposed to actual honest, objective history.
The violent thugs who screamed and threw rocks at little Ruby Bridges or the Little Rock Nine don’t want their grandchildren to learn that they screamed and threw rocks at little Ruby Bridges or the Little Rock Nine.
More kids have been sacrificed on the blood-stained altar of NRA domestic terrorists and gun manufacturer profits than the number of brave military heroes who have been sacrificed on the blood-stained altar of greedy corporate profits for the “defense contractors” of the “military-industrial complex” that [Republican] Eisenhower warned us about.
And until this country decides it loves its children more than letting terrorists, convicted violent criminals, domestic violence abusers or severely mentally ill persons have unfettered easy access to military-grade weapons, the mass murder of little children will continue.
And they have the NERVE to call themselves “pro-life.”
Protect school kids and America…..Ban the GOP ELEPHANTS!! They are the biggest threat to our democracy!
Maybe the GQP should aggitate for mandatory concealed carrying by ALL students. That way, no one would dare try anything. That is, IF you believe that more guns make a safer world, certainly the current RethugliQan/KKK/NRA stance.
Ele fink is insane.
Georgia teen manufacturing ‘ghost guns’ fatally shot his sister during firearms sale gone bad
A journal of plans to kill, warnings from teachers and a chilling ‘countdown’: The red flags around alleged Michigan school shooter Ethan Crumbley
Revelations about suspect Ethan Crumbley’s menacing social media posts, confessional videos and ‘disturbing’ classroom behaviour have sparked a debate over whether more could have been done to prevent the deadly shooting at Oxford High School.
And the lesson today is how to die.
The GOP cares little for the people that are killed by gun violence. All they are is another sacrifice on the altar to 2A rights.
book bags , the latest thing in body armor, can be just the little thing to protect a kid from all that learning;
From the great 1973 movie “Zardoz.” The Floating Godhead should be that of the GOP elephant:
Guns and Politics are a dangerous mix.
Cartoons like this one show why Mr. Luckovich’s two Pulitzers are well-deserved. I hope he has a big shelf.
Kids shouldn’t have guns. Except my kid, he is very responsible and adult. I got him a Glock when he was 12, he hasn’t shot anybody yet. He takes it to school for protection. He is a good boy.
ABSOLUTELY ACCURATE DEPICTION OF QPUBLICAN “THINKING” TODAY!!!
Funny how most this things happen in Dem run places and some how is GOPs fault . Maybe why should look into why a 16 year old would even want to shoot ppl is not cause of the instruments the guns dont make them do it… but if you plant hate, victim hood, self hatred among other idiotic ideas maybe that is the cause
The idea is to win legally. Since the early 1950’s and starting with McCarthy, as the Korean Police Action (still ongoing) went FUBAR and the mighty US invulnerability was questioned, the GOP picked the uneducated GULLible rural voter as its base.
Pandering to the unwashed mostly white masses, with the use of perpetual anxiety mixed with instances of extreme fear, and gradually refining the approach has us to where we are today. Seven decades later and the Dems are still without a consistent strategy to fight it.
As my not-so-bright nephew would say, “I don’t want to be a communist/socialist who will be forced to take a poison vaccine after they take my guns”.
Need a national mental health support system. One not just for the violent extremes that make headlines, but also for anxiety, victims of bullying, social dysphoria, Post partum depression, etc because those silent ones can become deadly too.
Rethugliecons champion othering and hatred, then they add guns to the mix.
Sure is weird, how they get scared of ideas, not guns.
^^ Once again, MB makes a comment from fantasy land that makes no sense.
@leonardonyc. MS, LA, and AL are Democrat-led states? Those were the three with the highest homicide rates by state in 2019 per the CDC.
Or perhaps you meant by city. St Louis has the highest rate (at 87/100,000 residents).
St Louis’ mayor is a Democrat, but any city does not exist in a vacuum. The surrounding areas are strongly Republican. There is some good analysis of complicating factors later in the story as well.
Think that the problem is far more complex, and less one-sided, than your post would lead others to believe.
Estimated number of guns per capita, by country, from Wikipedia:
As visualized by CNN.com, allowing you to search by country:
And it’s “still not the right time” to talk about revising gun control…
I belong to a community garden. It backs up to a middle school. All the kids were out on the field and I thought about the shootings at Oxford High School and how vulnerable we all were.
Touché Monsieur Luckovich!
In LA yesterday 14 looters were arrested for their Smash & Grab Spree, today due to Democrat DA malfeasance every one of those scavengers walks free. Americans have had enough, time to light up Looters & Rioters on the Spot.
Well done Mr. Luckovich, you just quoted the Nazi party line from the 1930’s and 40’s.
It has been, and is, extremely stressful watching the slow-mo train wreck as Republican zombies destroy our country. VOTE in every level election, in case it still helps, and do whatever else you can do to prevent their takeover.
and masks dont forget those scary masks!!!
Maybe we should arm all students above third grade and just pick up the bodies at the end of the school day. That would make the NRA and Republicans happy.
Only one book is necessary. If others agree with the Bible they’re superfluous. If they disagree they’re heretical. In either case they should be burned.
I see the crazed dishonest imbecile Montana Swill is at it again. But wouldn’t it be fun to watch Montana Swill attempt to tie his own shoes by his own self? He wouldn’t be able to DO it, of course, but the laughter would be its own reward.
Gosh, when was the last time that books/ideas were banned/burned by nationalistic hard-right conservatives? Hmmm, let me think…
GOP is not a party. It is a very serious illness.
A pity we have ignored the experts for decades now.
Walk through metal detectors. Recommended since Columbine. Ignored since Columbine. Would have likely prevented nearly every school shooting since.
Never mind if a 12 year-old is raped by a family member until she becomes pregnant. Coney-Barrett thinks it’s fine for her to carry to term then put the product of incest up or adoption. That is so much more important to focus on than 15 year-olds using their Christmas presents to kill 5 classmates and injure countless more and who knows how many teachers.
I agree with most of these postings…what makes me fear for the worst is that I can’t see what we can do to make a change, make a difference.
Reminds me of the great 1966 sci-fi movie named Fahrenheit 451. Reading or possessing a book or printed matter was a crime against the State. Rent it!!!
Perfectly Ilistrated Mike, the only reason the repubs exist is because the rich pad their account to do their will!
Heaven forbid any mention of our forefathers treating black people like livestock. It’s not critical race theory, it’s fact.
This cartoon is so incredibly poignant.
Yeah, real life zombies
