Eduardo Rafael “Ted” Cruz slipped across the border into Mexico, looking for a better life than the miserable existence his conservative ideology had rained down on the state of Texas. One person on the Internet noted, “I don’t so much mind that he went to Cancún, but what bothers me is that he is going to come back.
Texts and other communications proved that his reason was to escape the consequences of the horrendous devastation caused by the failure of his attempt to sell a message that you can just let the market decide and there will be peace and prosperity for everyone.
Well, maybe that works pretty well for everyday consumer goods — with sufficient public policy oversight to protect the rights of workers and consumers — but for basic public utilities and public infrastructure, it is an issue of PUBLIC INTEREST and it requires PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION.
And then Eduardo Rafael “Ted” Cruz LIED about his trip. He said he just went to accompany his daughters and was coming right back. But he was dragging an oversized suitcase, and all three major networks and numerous cable commentary programs noted that he had a ROUND-TRIP TICKET, and the return date was SATURDAY, not Thursday, and he had just changed his ticket THAT MORNING.
While other leaders were trying to help people, including Beto O’Rourke who spent the day making phone calls and arranging accommodations for those displaced (even though he does not actually hold any office right now), Eduardo Rafael “Ted” Cruz escaped the suffering that HIS FAILED SYSTEM caused and ran off to a beach resort, and then LIED ABOUT IT.
When he returned to Texas, he had police meet him at the Houston airport to protect him from angry mobs.
