As to the cartoon I think it is supposed to be a commentary on how we have larger problems than a mosque. My dislike of the choice of where they are planning to build the mosque is based on the fact that we are constantly told to be more sensitive and understanding to the Muslim community, and yet that same community refuses to be sensitive in return. If say I wanted to build a Jewish community center in Dearborn, Michigan would the local Muslim population be sensitive to my rights to build it there. I highly doubt it.
As far as the global warming issue, I say we fine the volcano the erupted in Iceland. Not the country but the volcano itself as the nation of Iceland had no control over it.
And as to your complaints about how the Republicans have been voting, they are voting against what they think are bad policies. As to the hilarious belief that the “Party of NO” is stymieing these progressive bills from helping the country, the Dems have had for the last two years total political power to pass whatever they wanted. If any real interference has occurred it has been in the Dems own camp.

Global Warming is a major issue to everyone but those listening to FoxNews. How about this: those decidedly non-tree-hugging insurance companies like Swiss Re have come out saying we need to do something about global warming because they are already feeling the effects. Climate shifts are happening.
Nobody said humanity would not survive (unless we manage to really kick out the jams and make another Venus), but our relatively fragile civilization is in major trouble. If you look at that “Medieval Warm Period” the deniers so love, you will observe that it produced a population explosion in Scandinavia, which led to the Viking age and ultimately William the Conquerer (Normandy - “North-man-town” - was a Norwegian colony) taking over England. Quite a dramatic change to history. Now: what if some of our far larger populations start to starve because they can’t grow enough food anymore? And this time they have guns, tanks, and bombs? I just attended a conference of non-government organizations (e.g., Amnesty International) who all agreed that global warming has already been having an impact on all of them, and it is crucial to find ways to deal with it.
Who said we can’t do anything about it? We can reduce carbon emissions, develop renewable energy sources (which would also reduce our dependance on foreign oil as well as pollution), improve efficiencies in factories and cars, paint rooftops white in cities (no foolin’ - if every building in California did that it would have a measurable effect on warming), plant trees, develop carbon sequestration technology, and investigate geoengineering technologies to reduce heat. And I’m no expert – that’s off the top of my head.
Muslim ‘bridges’ to other religions and cultures have been for over 1400 years, one way roads, with not a single exception. There are a number of existing mosques in NYC that could be used to create this all elusive exception …
Global climate change was occurring for the past 6+ billion years, and will continue to occur - until the Sun, the source of 98% of the Earth’s energy, goes dark. The fact that there are opportunistic capitalists wanting to capitalize on the ‘man-made global climate change’ craze is shocking. Just shocking!
There are indeed a great number of real man-made disasters, Zimbabwe for example - once a bread basket of Africa, today, they have to import food to feed themselves; Asian and So-American destruction of rain forests is devastating, the deforestation of Himalayan foothills is destroying continent sized land masses, and the list can go on, and on. And with the exception of a few unheralded charities, the only thing that the uber-intellectuals keep harping about is to focus on and spend $trillions to subjugate the developed world in chasing the impossible dream of changing the Global Climate, by utilizing a poooop science.
Should we strive for greater energy efficiencies, cleaner energy sources, and be more protective of the environment in general? Of course we should! And we do - without the directives of some apparatchiks.
For example, California legislature has recently enacted a maniacal set of energy regulations governing large TV screens - it should make the apparatchics happy - they have made their contribution to the reduction of the earth heating energy consumption. The funny thing is that the dirty rotten capitalists are way ahead of them uber-intellectuals - they started to make LED TV’s that use but a fraction of the older stile TV’s, not to mention CRT’s. And guess what? The God forsaken profiteers are hard at work on developing even more efficient screens … who knew?
and it took me a long time to realize that it meant that “some are angry” about the Glenn Beck event, not that Glenn Beck was holding “some angry event”…
