For too many people today, doing “research” consists of reviewing the garbage fed them by the algorithms intended to generate profit through views. When all you see is stuff the all knowing internet has decided you already agree with, deciding whats true becomes difficult if not impossible.
I tried to instruct students about the crap that could pop up on the Internet including “social media”. Unfortunately, some had already been “turned” by their parents. If a student would say “my dad” “my mom” or any other relative, I would stop, hoping they’d learn the truth at college.
The more people believe in conspiracy theories, the worse they perform on critical thinking tests, a new study has confirmed. This doesn’t mean that conspiracy theorists are necessarily lacking intelligence, but rather that they lack the skills to objectively analyze and evaluate a situation. -
I’ve always maintained that the worst things to ever happen to the world in recent years have been social media and the creation of 24/7 cable news networks.
Have to agree with this, except I think Ramirez needs to look into a mirror, as he forgets the mass murderer in Buffalo is likely one of his fans, or at the least has had some of MR’s stuff shared with him. He is not mentally ill, he has been radicalized by the Republican Party and far right media. Tucker Carlson is (was, assuming he’s not allowed to watch FOX in prison) one of his favorite sources of what he should hate.
Now let’s diligently work on ridding our school libraries of any books the deal with today’s social issues. Let’s demand teachers make no mention of current events and teach only sanitized history. Sadly we need look no further than our local school boards and state legislatures and . . .yes . . .we the voters to find the root causes of that pipeline flow.

Not limited to the youth. Read some of the comments left on here. Those aren’t kids. Those are grown adults posting about CRT and race replacement.
