Michael Ramirez’s view of our state is badly distorted. It reflects the hateful, fact-denying sources you use for “information” and is consistent with the rest of your delusions that are so completely disconnected from any semblance of reality.
The fact is that same-day exit polls — the ones where Republicans who have been made to distrust mail and early voting were most likely to be represented — showed overwhelming supermajorities who said that the California economy is doing well, which is consistent with the recent Bloomberg analysis that said California has the #1 most prosperous economy among all U.S. states.
Yes, we have have our problems. Any massively diverse population of 40 million people is going to have problems. But we are a thriving, prosperous economy. People come here and, in our regulated market economy, have the opportunity to enjoy enormous economic personal success as well as enjoying a lifestyle of personal freedom in a beautiful natural paradise.
And yes, despite your distortions and exaggerations, yes, we have homeless people. You know why? Because we also have favorable benefits to HELP PEOPLE and we have a more pleasant climate for those who sleep on the street.
MOST OF OUR HOMELESS came from failed red states, where the climate is lousy, the benefits are poor, and people like you treat them like dirt. When they come from your red states, they are poor and desperate. WE HELP THEM, and while it doesn’t happen overnight, we give them the opportunity to get off the streets and become successful.
What is sad is that Ramirez, who for several years (a long time ago) was the editorial cartoonist for the Los Angeles Times, knows better. He is intentionally lying. Maybe he is bitter that a major newspaper could no longer stomach his trash.
