Both are criminal, equally bad (more or less, and depending on details) and at the very least cause for diplomatic action. I guess we will see. It’s true that nations have neither conscience nor super-ego.

You can always count on Ramirez to support the rule of law, as long as it’s in support of corporate interests.

This is why just about everything my company sent to China, came from China.

And yet it hasn’t stopped any company from taking their technology there. How else would they feed the American appetite for more “stuff”?

If you see that a known troll has managed to seize the discussion, ignore it. Click on the “Show All Comments” link and continue to read and engage with the people who actually want to have a serious discussion about the current issues addressed by the editorial cartoon, even in the cases when the cartoonist himself is as clueless as the troll.

What is the discussion anyway? It’s a Communist country right, they steal what they want, be it intelligence military or private sector. Than using forced cheep labor redevelop or produce it cheaply then use it against us, if military or sell it back to us cheaper in the private sector. They have been doing it for years no administration Republican or Democrat has stood up to them successfully. It’s a face off between the free world and China. The one who steps back will lose and under the present administration there is a lot of support for stepping back.

Funny how mramirez ignored Herr Gropingfuror sucking up to Russia’s and mainland China’s presidents while in office.

Nothing new. Decades ago I read articles about China stealing intellectual property. I was at a university in the south where a young student had had his computer confiscated because it was a counterfeit Apple Mac.

Surprised?? America builds/sponsors manufacturing plants in these countries.. hires locals to run them.. then complains when that technology is moved across the street. AND.. America is not above stealing intellectual technology when they can.

Capitalism and Communism, is it possible that they need each other to survive. If one gives in to the other will the system break and the winner eventually fail. The only other option is military and if that is used we all fail. Just a thought. Interesting.

Ramirez, they don’t need to steal it. When American business people, like Ivanka tRump who acquired at least 6 copyrights from China in 2020 alone, do business with China for lower labor costs and not paying American workers decent wages and benefits, we give it away.

When China doesn’t steal technology, they extort or bribe Democrats for it. Prime example of this is when Loral CEO Bernard Schwartz donated $1.5 million to Bill Clinton’s campaign and other Democrats. Loral wanted China to launch their satellites because they were cheaper than American launchers. Problem was China had problems with staging their rockets and the State Department wouldn’t allow it anyway. So Bernie called his pal Bill to cash in the favors. Clinton chuckled and said no problem buddy and transferred authorization for rocket staging technology and foreign launches from the State Department to the Commerce Department. Problem solved, Loral transferred staging technology to China who then launched their satellites on the cheap. That bit of treason saved China twenty years of research and also allowed them to perfect their nuclear tipped ICBMs pointed at the USA.
