In another case of republican stupidity, Fox host Kudlow and the republican Barbie twins (Greene and Boebert) are claiming that Biden is telling everyone to stop eating meat. Kudlow upped the ante (or is it “anti”) by complaining about “plant based beer”. Apparently he doesn’t understand that ALL beer is “plant based”.
REAL USA progressives (aka liberals) are perfectly aware that “America” isn’t the name of the nation they live in. Can’t say that for all the right wingers, as proved right here.
People who actually use their brains for something other than keeping their skull inflated also recognize that people have a lot of various attributes, and that those attributes, for them, may be more important than which country they live in (or have citizenship).
Am I a US citizen? Yep. And I live in a state, county and town too. Not only that, I have some civic pride in those smaller places… I’ve experienced white privilege and these days, I now recognize when some of it happened, though then, mostly not. I know some black people too, some of whom I like a lot… some not so much. Ditto for most of the other categories ol Mike mentions.
I’ve heard of cultural appropriation, but as a person who enjoys “ethnic” food (Thai, Mexican, Chinese, Cuban, Peruvian, Hungarian … and several others) I’m not too worried about it. Though most of the places we eat such food were at least STARTED by someone who immigrated from that locale. Except pizza. Say, do you suppose having an opinion about Texas BBQ makes me a cultural appropriator?
One of the things I do often like about Ramirez’s work: the artistic quality. He even missed that bullet point on this one…
It isn’t that whites didn’t know white privilege existed. They just didn’t see anything wrong with it. It wasn’t until the late 50’s that Hollywood started paying attention to the race issue. Until then, they pushed the conservative philosophy. Hollywood is always at least 2 steps behind what’s happening in society.
Mikey has it sooooo wrong. What he can’t understand is that it’s alright for ALL of those on the left to be who they are and still be be Americans. It’s those like Mikey who can’t stand having most of Americans not exactly like them living next door.
Not sure who “EVERYONE ELSE” is but assuming that’s the old, white man dominated GOP. They tend to think they’re “everyone” or at least the only ones that count.
Hmm, funny how those ‘Americans’ (actually North Americans, those in Central and South America include themselves as Americans), on the right side of the panel, don’t seem to want to recognize that there can be diversity and equal rights for those on the left side who are also U.S. citizens.
My the haters are in full stride this morning. We do live in a free country and supposedly are allowed to be who we wish to be. How about living under this principle: Your freedom ends when it infringes on my constitutional rights. Plain and simple, the Golden Rule. There now, somebody shoot that down.
More Progressives would think of themselves and others as Americans if Regressives would stop pointing out that they really aren’t proper Americans. Grind all the cultural ingredients into a gray slurry, breaking down the diverse cultural fibers, ladle it on the white bread of American Nationalism, and you have a mushy soup sandwich.
⇧ Zoturdley >— Your freedom ends when it infringes on my constitutional rights.
I dearly wish you Reich wingers would learn to use that statement and quit trying to force others to act, think and believe only what you consider acceptable.
Ramirez ignores the fact that each of the 26 so-called sub-groups on the left have been told by one or more the those 26 so-called sub-groups on the left that they are not eligible to be counted in the so-called “Everyone Else” mega-group on the right.
The TRUTH is that the “American” group comprises not only all 26 so-called sub-groups on the left, but also many unnamed sub-groups, i.e., all those numerous sub-groups have been alienated to some extent by other sub-groups.
That each of those so-called sub-groups have the First Amendment right to try to sideline other sub-groups politically PROVES that they’re ALL Americans; not just Americans, but rather dim-witted, clueless, and gullible Americans who have no idea what being a through and through American entails.
The hypocrisy and the arrogance of all those numerous sub-groups which dare to try to alienate and demonize those with whom they don’t agree on economic issues, on religious issues, on cultural issues, on social issues, etc., unwittingly serve the agendas of the GOP Leadershit, the Koch Brothers, and the corpocracy—not themselves.
The QAnon lunatics, the Oath Keeper traitors, the Proud Boys thugs, the residual Trump dingleberries and dregs, and similar dim-witted, clueless, and gullible village idiots have only an obtues and blurred anarchist notion of what they’re about. They’re all like the clueless Mickey Mouse character in “Fantasia,” creating destructive chaos by mistaking power for authority. Not only are they their own worst enemy, but also they are quite literally our nation’s most lethal internal or external enemy.
well now we know how mikie thinks when it comes to diversity… sure doesn’t hold up when you factor in making sure the poor, those of color, non-Christian, ethnic, and less advantage want to be able to vote but cannot because the old, white, rich, retrumplicans like mikie don’t want the people to decide who governs…. just the old white guys…. if you’re not old and white and rich you must be ‘stealing the vote’….
“SPOT ON” Mr. Ramirez. Judging from the comments by those who lean left, they are too stupid to realize what you are trying to say. The left leaning morons are the ones who categorize everybody into different genders et al. They are the ones who are dividing and destroying this once great country. The right leaning puts everybody into one group. “Americans” born and raised or naturalized.
If there were no discrimination of anyone that isn’t a wealthy white male, there would be no need for identity politics. If all Americans truly had the same voting opportunities, the same educational and employment opportunities, we would all be American. Sadly you must be very naïve.
Mike, I think you meant “White, male & land owning” American, after all isn’t that what the founding fathers allowed? Thank God, we can (and did) change the constitution to allow for all of us to vote. Though some states seem to be ignoring that message.
Now show us the list of The Conservative View of America. It will have thug, Communist, Socialist, illegal, unAmerican, must be Christian, must be White, must be Hetero, Barefoot and pregnant, Nationalist; and that’s just a few.
I with this were true. If everyone else just saw American, I’m not a progressive, but there wouldn’t be such a long list of those who don’t feel the majority see them simply as Americans (I would add that some don’t see each other as Americans either — prejudice knows no color or ethnicity).
Surely, your country is divided enough without you adding to the rubbish? Part of the problem is the percentage of folks who, for whatever reason, fail to see the problems of inequality and racism.

“Everyone else” is, of course the Republican Party Of Trump. They view people in two categories: Real Americans and Those People.
