So the cops shooting blacks is okay because they shouldn’t be better than the gangs??? I guess that is Mr. R’s take on this.

Maybe if there was effective gun control and economic justice so people didn’t live in total despair, there wouldn’t be so much violence. But hey, I’m just sayin’….

Gotta love the Right. They love their guns, but get confused when people use them on each other.

It doesn’t fit “the narrative.” And, there’s no money or power to be had from it.

It seems to me that if the BLM organization REALLY CARED about BLACK LIVES, They would intervene on this issue of BLACK ON BLACK VIOLENCE! When nothings SAID or DONE about this, it’s being CONDONED! This is an issue BLM needs to address…NOW! BLM picks and chooses whom to PROTECT! Protection from police, but not each other. Therefore, the BLOOD of your own will be on YOURSELF!

Yeah, Mikey, go set up protests against those armed gang members. They might like the target practice. Protests against cops work because the cops (mostly) obey rules. They (mostly) will not drive by in the middle of the night and pepper your residence with gunfire.

Good thing that all murders only occur in Chicago, according to Ramirez… maybe if we build a Trump Wall around it our problems will be solved…

Chicago has had gang murders since the 1920s.

What didn’t make a lot of media just yet are the two shooters who were apprehended yesterday. The suspect in the shooting of a 7 year old in a McDonald’s was shot and wounded – not killed – by Chicago police, The suspect who shot a 22 month old child in a ‘road rage’ was apprehended and charged by Chicago police. Not killed. There are good cops.

The bad cops are defining police. The only ones who can solve this issue are the good cops.

Here I thought it was deaths caused by the Covid people from Floriday, Missouri, Texas, etc. keep bringing with them. Oh, wait, that number would be higher.

THOSE protests would be coming from the people who want better gun control so that these killings might be dramatically reduced. Does that answer your dumb question, Ramirez?

Oh look, the classic “I can’t argue the issue of police reform to fix the excessive use of force or the need for gun control reform to address the mass shootings; so I’ll just say CHICAGO” cartoon. I believe a fellow right wing cartoonist named Kelley accused Democrats of being the ones playing identity politics whenever being challenged. You both have your work cutout for ya.

Of all the comments above the only one the makes even a slight bit of sense is from Baslim. The usual response to local protests or vigils for the victims of gang shootings in Chicago is another drive by shooting.

But the basic premise of the cartoon remains 100% valid. BLM, Antifa and other advocates never seem to be interested in protesting or demonstrating about black on black violence. Which, BTW, makes police violence look like a pimple on the donkey’s behind.

The above named, along with high profile individuals like Shaprton and Jackson and Maxine are quick to rally the troops in the street when it serves their political narrative. But when the particular incidents only highlight black on black crime those towering social giants are uniformly silent.

Right wing political behavior is actually pretty easy to predict.

FIRST: Does it siphon money toward the coffers of their owners? That’s the main thing.

SECOND: Does it further divide our population along party lines? That’s preferred

THIRD: Does it enable them, regardless of legality or morality, to increase their chance of winning local, state and federal elections? That’s very important to them.

FOURTH: If none of the above, does it increase pain, uncertainty, food or housing insecurity, particularly for the poor or darker-skinned? They seem to take pleasure in that, though it’s not really important to most of them.

2 points…1) Chicago has the strongest gun restriction laws in the country, yet the law breakers don’t seem to care. Hmmmmm.2) Last year, in the U.S.,18 unarmed blacks were killed by the police. Meanwhile over 7,000 were killed by other blacks. Are you starting to see the real problem here?

Communities of color in Chicago regularly protest and voice their disdain and anguish at the constant gang banger street violence. Those efforts don’t get any national attention, however, probably because there’s no rioting/looting involved.

Chicago’s homicide rate skyrocketed in 2020 with 769 deaths – 274 more than in 2019. For 2021 murders in the first three months of this year rose 33% over the same period in 2020 while shootings spiked 43%. Democratic mayor Lori Lightfoot’s attempts at police reform and union contract negotiations appears to be an epic failure. This failure is felt most intensely in the black and brown communities on whose behalf Mayor Lightfoot purports to act. She should not be let off the hook for the current state of crisis in her city. In Chicago blacks commit 76 percent of all homicides, while composing 35 percent of the city’s population. Blacks also account for 78 percent of all juvenile arrests. Whites, who compose 28 percent of the city’s population, committed 4 percent of its homicides and 3.5 percent of its juvenile arrests. Hispanics, who compose 30 percent of the city’s population, commit 19 percent of its homicides and 18 percent of its juvenile arrests. We need to understand why this is… and how to fix it. This can be accomplished! We currently use profiles to catch criminals… but we should also be using even more detailed profiles to understand what led up to the criminal behavior and how to prevent it in the first place. It won’t be a simple narrative, (or a one-and-done fix), but many if not 100’s of minor adjustments made over time and recalibrated that will make the difference. We can do this!
