The joke is that pathetically insecure, needy women will LITERALLY throw themselves at a man they think is handsome, rich, and popular, and desperately seeks to make herself more desirable to him than all the other women do. Never mind that he’s just as likely as any other guy (maybe MORE so?) to be narcissistic, selfish, abusive, or any other human flaw. I’m with Drew – it’s a marvel of modern culture that wouldn’t make sense to anyone in any other time in history.
