1) Don’t want the vaccine – yet. Lemme test it out on others first.
2) Don’t want Social (in)Security either – I’d rather keep the money to invest it myself and make 11%+ on it in the market, instead of a net-negative return.
3) Farm subsidies are outdated, and nothing more than another welfare program. Farmers are some of the hardest working people on the planet – let them farm naturally and sustainably and voila they don’t need a subsidy. https://kissthegroundmovie.com
4) COVID relief checks need to only go to the most needy, those that lost their jobs last year. Not everyone else. If you didn’t lose your job or take a massive pay hit – then you shouldn’t get it. I was out of work for 7 months, as licensed medical provider. Imagine that. I know a lot of waiters, store staff, restauranteurs, mechanics, small business owners, nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, physicians, medical aides, technicians, surgery staff, and others that were out of work for a loooooooooong time. Give it ONLY to those whose income took a hit based off of 2020 taxes. Not just because you make less than “X” amount of money.
Says it all right there. They have no idea what socialism is about, it’s just an epithet bandied about that’s left over from Tailgunner Joe McCarthy’s era.
“REG: All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?”—“Life of Bryan”, Monty Python
Medicare for All is socialist. Public schools, roads, mail service, etc are socialist. Anything the government does to serve the people is socialist. Socialism is a scary word for Republicans. It is necessary for Republicans to use scary words to convince their base that they should remain loyal, because if they actually understood that they are voting against their own best interests they wouldn’t be Republicans. They have been taught that socialism is scary. 1%er owned news outlets have been telling them so for about 40 years now. So, if they are told someone is socialist, they don’t educate themselves to find out exactly what they are supposed to be afraid of. It’s a pretty shaky system and it’s amazing that people have fallen for it long enough for the country be in the condition it is, but they have.
The interesting thing is that “socialism” was no problem for the U.S. until the Uber Rich took over our country in the Gilded Age. Public schools are socialism, the above-mentioned stuff is socialism. The Post office was socialism enshrined in the Constitution. Socialism being “bad” was invented in the Gilded Age so that the Very Rich could maintain their wealth.
Libraries are based example of socialism. You mean I can go in there, borrow a book for 3 weeks. And return it. For no charge. What’s the catch? You mean EVERYONE can borrow a book for free? Even THOSE people can? Can you even trust them to return it? Sounds like a dangerous experiment. I think we need to shut all those libraries down.
