How much longer will it be before the obvious climate change effects that are happening right under the noses of these deniers…. Maybe if they got their heads out of the sand or their rectums, maybe then they could see and believe the obvious. Maybe if there were more believers in government positions, maybe something constructive could be accomplished for saving our world. One can only hope!
Funny, I’m not seeing the denialist trolls at all lately. Have they departed? Have they decided to keep their mouths shut (because God forbid they should admit their massive errors)? Were they kicked off? Has Putin stopped paying for them with his personal toady in the White House?
There are two classes of human-accelerated climate change deniers. First, and most numerous, are the ignorant who do not read or investigate the scientific evidence accumulated over the decades. Second, the Wealthy Elite, who know what is happening, but do not want their companies to expend any money toward cleaning emissions and toxic wastes. They want to enjoy their material wealth TODAY, probably thinking that they will be gone when conditions get worse. The Republican Party is totally dedicated to watching over their desires, and stonewall and reverse any legislation or initiative to make industry do their part. As The Wolf.. says, it’s all MONEY, the Wealthy Elite’s money. Until their heavy influence is curtailed, all our children (and all the animals on this planet) are in for a tough time!
I have a facebook “friend” of a friend who occasionally gets into a… um… “discussion” with me about this. He is completely convinced that “climate change” is not just a hoax, but a deliberate policy on the part of liberals in an attempt to grab power and steal people’s rights. Seriously believes that. And he’s utterly resistant to any data that says otherwise. Any time I offer him contrary data, he responds (and believes, quite apparently) with one or more of:
• That site is known to be unreliable (wikipedia for instance, because you cannot use a wikipedia cite in a paper… which is true.)
• “Everybody knows” that (whatever fact) is a hoax.
• “I live right by the ocean and I can see that it’s not rising.”
• “¡You Lie!”
• If you weren’t so lazy, you would be willing to search the internet and see that what I’m saying is the truth.
• (no response at all), when for instance I sent him a link to a series of time-stamped images of an Alaskan glacier, showing it shrinking.
