Invading armies that torture and execute civilians are a look back at what happened in a previous era — one that both Russians and Ukrainians remember clearly because it happened to them in their towns and villages, and are stamped on their collective memory. The argument Putin used for an excuse to execute his invasion to demilitarize and de-Nazify Ukraine has become what both countries fought against in the 1940’s — atrocities against innocent civilian families and their children. And we see ordinary Russian soldiers and conscripts, and hired mercenaries running to escape the wrath of citizen soldiers of Ukraine, once they had the firepower to counter the massive might of the “world’s second most powerful military and air force”.
Can you even begin to imagine how the ineffectiveness of the “world’s second most powerful military and air force” would have faired against NATO? How a 40 mile long column of tanks, armored vehicles, and soldiers mired in the Ukrainian mud would have survived the modern equipment and tactics of NATO? They hardly survived the under-manned, ill equipped citizen army of Ukraine! The Soviet (oops, pardon me, Russian) air force still has not gained air superiority over Ukraine, in spite of their numerical and technical superiority.
And now they are talking about tactical nuclear weapons. Just how crazy does Putin have to be before someone in that nation cares enough to put a stop to the insanity?
