Omicron subvariant appears more contagious, but not more severe, Denmark says

COPENHAGEN (Reuters) -The BA.2 subvariant of the Omicron coronavirus variant, which is dominant in Denmark, appears more contagious than the more common BA.1 sub-lineage, Danish Health Minister Magnus Heunicke said on Wednesday in a national address.

“There is no evidence that the BA.2 variant causes more disease, but it must be more contagious,” Heunicke told a news conference.

The BA.1 lineage currently accounts for 98% of all cases globally but in Denmark has been pushed aside by BA.2, which became the dominant strain in the second week of January.

Sarah Palin sighting prompts NYC to issue a health warning

Sarah Palin was spotted dining out again at a New York City restaurant, prompting officials there to issue a health warning.

The former half-term Alaska governor and failed vice presidential candidate tested positive for COVID-19 while in town for her defamation suit against the New York Times, and city officials expressed concern after Palin was twice spotted dining at Elio’s restaurant — including once after her diagnosis, reported Gothamist.

“Any New Yorker who came into contact with Ms. Palin [is encouraged] to get tested, just as we encourage all New Yorkers to get tested regularly, especially those who believe they may have been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19,” said City Hall spokesperson Jonah Allon in a statement.

The trial was delayed Monday after Palin tested positive for the virus, and the judge noted that the outspoken vaccine opponent had not been inoculated, although she dined outdoors at Campagnola on Tuesday and returned Wednesday to Elio’s, where she also ate outside.

I guess I’m just an “old fart”, but I don’t remember any deep philosophical discussions on “vaxxing” before I got my small pox vaccination, and it wasn’t there when I got my polio shot, either.

Nor was any great discussion allowed as I was being processed through the line as I was entering the military (one step ahead of the draft!) I wasn’t told what all those shots were about – I was just told to shut up and keep the line moving!

I’m “amused” by all the angst exhibited by all the anti-vaxxers. who worry about their “rights” being abrogated.

What about the rights of the rest of us to NOT be infected by your overweening stupidity?

I was recently assured by some moron that the “government” was injecting tracking devices along with the vaccines and also that a year or two further along some type of horrible “disease” would rise up because of my vaccination and kill me!

The "government doesn’t have the technology to develop any disease with a dormancy of years before striking, and the idea of an internal “tracking device” is ludicrous given the ubiquity of “smart” ’phones which includes a "tracking device built-into their mechanisms.

And a final thought – how in the world do these idiots justify the fact that they’re EVEN IMPORTANT ENOUGH for the government to even care to try to track them in the first place? I know I’m not – but then I’m not suffering from a bad case of paranoia, either.
