Excellent depiction to make a point well taken, Matt.
“Corporations should, like individuals, be free to express themselves. I mean, who’s afraid here?” – Mitch McConnell speaking at the American Enterprise Institute in 2012
The GQP would like to take over, or “nationalize” big corporations… and they don’t like it when people point out that would be communism…
These days, McConnell hardly even tries to appear ethical. I imagine he really thought he would be under Trump’s aegis for another four years, then retire from the Senate a Republican hero, and to bestow his office on another hyper-partisan just like him.
But near the finish, close to that triumph, with their golden laughter reverberating through the skies, the gods sent Apollo with the darts of Covid-19, the smallest of weapons in his quiver.
Openly threatening business people for not voting their way – um, aren’t there laws about that sort of thing?
Big corporations and Qpublicons will reverse their own position (lie and deny) on issues depending on which way the public wind is blowing or how the numbers are polling. MM is the poster boy of hypocrisy.
Nice thought, but many more large corporations support the Republican agenda than not, for example Comcast, Phillip Morris, and Koch Industries.
A sardonic take on the RW Meme for the Week (see Bok and Gorrell).
“We’ll gladly take your money, and give you tax cuts, but shut up about things you don’t like about us.” – The GQP
When is a bribe not a bribe? When it is a campaign donation.
Who’s running the show around here? Corporations or politicians.
McConnell says to corporations to stay away from republican racist politics.
Corporations say to Mitch, “If we’re out of politics, so are you.”
Did Mitch overturn Citizens United?
I have no problem with corporations giving or withholding campaign contributions. But to punish local citizens? Very bad idea.
Needs one more panel: Elephant says we’ll retract your tax breaks (Blackmailing Delta in GA.) I wish the Corp. reply was OK, we’ll keep our money out of your politics as well.
seems alot like taxation without representation… they don’t represent the “small” people, like you and me, only the big people, like corporations…but if we stop supporting the corporations by boycotting their products, then the corporations will have to scale back their money to the GOP, and then the GOP will have to learn to beg for their money!
Now they want to Cancel them all.
Now for truth. As it turns out, corporations gave more to the democratic party than to republicans in the last three election cycles.
as moscow mitch told big business " just shut up and give me you money"
Have you read the law Davies ? Of course not , neither has bought Biden
A couple of corporations made a small objection, but they waited until the bill was passed and had become law.
