“Are all the laws, but one, to go unexecuted, and the government itself go to pieces, lest that one be violated?” Lincoln asked. He was talking about habeas corpus, but it kind of applies to Second Amendment absolutists as well.

Before going to Vietnam, the Navy trained me with the M16, M79, 12 ga. riot gun, .30 cal. and M60 machineguns, the .50 cal. machinegun. the Mk 18 grenade launcher, the 20mm cannon, the 81mm mortar and the 40mm cannon so I would be able to handle any gun mount or position on the boat. While there, I also acquired a Schmeisser MP40, a chopped down M2 carbine which I dropped into an M1A1 folding stock and 1911 .45 cal. pistol. I mostly loaded the mortar or fired the .50 cal. (“Ma Deuce”) in combat, though I did sometimes use some of the others and was, when necessary, the 2nd loader of the 40mm cannon. When I came out of the service in Jan. 1970 I realized that I had a problem with anger management. I never purchased a gun.

Matt, Just saw your tweet below; love how you were able to turn the rear of the container ship into mcTurtle’s face. Well done indeed ♥

“…a time of intense difficulty, trouble, or danger.”…

That’s the definition of “crisis” – and I see none of that on our southern border except for the republican morons (pardon the redundancy) that keep trekking down there on “fact-finding” junkets where they were “investigating” the increased influx of unaccompanied children at the border by ‘patrolling’ the Rio Grande in gun boats with machine guns and assault rifles at the ready.

The only “intense difficulty” I noticed was my desire to not dissolve into paroxysms of laughter at their pathetic attempt to construct a mountain out of a molehill.

Haven’t seen a new Matt Davies for awhile. I hope Matt is OK. His unique illustrations speak loudly of issues at hand!
