Especially when our Pres closed the memorial off to the public a couple years ago. Can’t blame the buget. He authorised overtime to staff up the guards to keep people away from the parks and monuments.

Alas, SizeofaPea, you forget; they’re wearing upside-down glasses. The more clearly you present facts, the more clearly they’ll translate it into their dogma. You’ve probably caused a few of them to say, “See? I told ya I was right!”.

“they made it a holiday because everyone of the brothers that worked] was taking of anyway”You remind me of an old boss who decreed it okay to required staff to work MLK day because nobody cheapens the day like they do Independence Day, Memorial Day, or Labor Day.A whole lot of Americans owe Reverend King and the countless unnamed heroes who risked life and limb in demonstrations, protests, and marches; those who dared to drink from the wrong fountain or sit on the seat. They formed the foundation of the modern civil rights struggles that benefited not just blacks, but all ethnic groups, gays and lesbians, the mentally ill, and the physically and mentally challenged. So many of us owe Reverend King and all those people a debt that can never be repaid. I am able to live my life openly in the light because of them. I think that deserves at least one lousy day to reflect on what they’ve done and what remains to be done.

Did the artist of the strip, or the sculptor forget his mustache? That looks nothing like MLK
