I never watch Fox (not really) news. Or listen to all those wrong-wing idjits… so I have no idea if this is close to cartoon-true. I have already heard one senator talking about deficits though. Sigh.
When Trump first took the office, it was a similar bamboozle, but the claim was opposite. Anything good that Obama had been doing to effectively counteract the 2008 recession was immediately claimed as an achievement by Trump. That, together with attempting to cancel many of Obama’s other achievements was an attempt by Trumpist conservatives to virtually smudge, if not erase, the previous eight years. The “Ministry of Truth” pundits of conservative media like Fox News were very busy during the Trump years.
Sigh, some things are harder to change than others. Mitch was already prepping up the caring about the deficit stuff, even before the insurrection at the Capital.
My local radio station replaced the overnight local host with 2 national ones. The local host covered entertainment and told callers that he wouldn’t discuss politics. The national hosts are still backing Trump, his rioters and election lies despite management promises to stop divisiveness.
AM radio is overflowing with this rabble rousing conspiracy poison rotting the brains of millions of clueless rural listeners. It has now crossed over to merge with bible banging Old Testament radiovangelists bloviating over the satanic pediphallic takeover of liberal lizard transsexualites filling the basements of pizza joints and the halls of Washington. Who funds this coast to coast sh*t? Russians, craven greed, billionaire anarchists?
It is a repeat of the familiar pattern: Democrats come in to office after republicans run up huge deficits with tax cuts to corporations and the rich (“tax cuts pay for themselves”) trash the economy and drive the country into the ditch. Democrats dig the country out of the hole, start paving streets and planting trees, try to improve lives for ordinary workers and children, with republicans going crazy with accusations of socialism and communism (surely they’ve never read the dictionary).
Republicans get elected again, then trash the country again, this time with the worst pandemic in a century. The republicans have no plan on how to fix it, their president is so busy with golf, he can’t spare time to take advice from experts (he resents anyone who knows more than him, which is just about everybody), so the republicans try to destroy our government by telling the Big Lie (without evidence) that the election was stolen, and staging a coup attempt by rioting in the capitol. And the day the new president is sworn in, they start trying to prevent the program to fix the mess they created. They still offer no solutions, only obstruction. Again, they don’t care about the ordinary people. And, they want the people who shouted the Big Lie, and incited the insurrection to be excused without even having to apologize for what they did.
And Mitch McConnell, who was the majority leader who declared that nothing passed by the House under the democrats, would get by him, and pretty much nothing did, wants democrats to agree to let him be the gatekeeper for the senate again under a power sharing agreement.
He wants to prevent the Biden agenda from being passed so people continue to suffer, so they can take another run at getting control of the Congress again in two years. I’m waiting to see what happens.
Projection in the Freudian sense seems to be a “conservative” weakness, and the claim made by some commentators on Fox, that Democrats want to “exterminate” Republicans, is a breathtaking example of projection. Republicans, or Republican politicians, may or may not want to “exterminate” Democrats, but their absurd caricatures of Democratic policies and plans make sense only as indictments for gross felonies and other high crimes.
He’s got it 100% right. It was like flipping a switch.
But it isn’t going to bring them back to the top. Fox lost 30%-40% of their audience depending on the time slot. They are sitting in the #3 spot (cable) for most of their prime time shows. Most of the lost viewers moved on to Newsmax and other outlets.
This is the group that didn’t want to give President Obama the credit for the destruction of OBL. They wanted to give the credit to the Bush/Cheney era. Even though the Bush/Cheney Administration couldn’t catch OBL, WE KNOW that it was during the Obama/Biden Administration that OBL was taken out. Once again FOX NEWS wants to blame anything negative the Democrats (even though it was the Rethugithans that caused it) and try to give the credit to the Rethugithans ( when the Democrats did the work) from something positive.

Sadly true. Freedom of the press is only for those who can afford to own the press. Follow the money and grab the most attention with headlines.
