We defeated both Germany and Japan, industrialized nations with millions of trained and motivated troops in less than 5 years. How is it we cannot defeat a bunch of poppy farmers in 18? I don’t think it is our men and women in uniform. Can it possibly be our politicians and who we have set up as our partners? This looks like a bad replay of Viet Nam.

I understand that Afghanistan is rich in many minerals, and is believed to have vast, untapped oil reserves underground. And, that the US does not want the Chinese to have access to these. Is it true?

I wonder if the surge would have worked. The military asked for 40,000 new troops. Obama gave them fewer than half, which forced them to confine operations to the area around Kabul.

We “invaded” so Cheney and Haliburton could get rich off the oil. Duh.
