Nice try Nancy. But too late for the save!
Has Greg considered retirement, since he seems to be out of ideas?
Whoever called it, congrats! Feel good one day resolution. I guess we’re back to Tiffany’s Table for Two next week.
In conclusion, you are the winner. Uh huh. I can’t blame Frank for not feeling like the winner. Maybe he does need to compliment her more, be more romantic, and get out of those flannel pajamas.
Creo que faltó dibujarle una sonrisa a Frank al final. Este arco debió hacerle recordar lo afortunado que es de tener tan genial esposa.
Man over Board Alert
If it makes you feel any better, plenty of male readers are p.o.ed on your behalf Frank. Hope we get to see Gunther’s sewing escapades next week. Or maybe some stuff about Tara lookng for a place to live. Or Bernice avoiding Jack. Or Luann being messy. Or Shannon…not being around.
If you just realize where Nancy’s hands are and what they are doing, you’ll get an idea why Frank’s eyes are now wide open.
Oh, Nancy, please give your husband some credit. He is not stupid. He knows what you were trying to imply when you came home, to quote Frank, “aflutter.” Too late to backtrack. Speak the truth. He is not being attentive enough. OR are you trying to recapture your youth? Usually, it’s the men who pine for their younger days and start hitting on women their daughters’ age. Are you wanting Frank and yourself to resume the romance you left off when Brad was born? Well, you two were around 25 years younger. Now you are different people. Instead of being aflutter by another man, focus on finding each other again rather than trying to recapture your youthful romance. I get it. Our children grew up and left the nest. Hubby and I find ourselves at a loss because our focus was on our sons. Now what? To truly rediscover each other, you need to shove Luann out of the nest.
All’s well that ends well…
Is this THE END of this arc? please
Frank let it go Nancy says she loves you that should be enough.
Frank should go to a counselor all by himself…
Such a beautiful way to end this arc. Only the married couples can be in bed affirming their deep love for each other in a more inferentially physical way. She is in bed with love of her life, whom she has had their children with and Frank has nothing to worry about in the husband department. Follow the story not projections is my literary way to have fun in Luannverse.
Aw sweet. Everyone likes a likes a little affirmation, validation, there’s no actual implication that it’s going to be acted upon.
Q: Where is she going?
A: Don’t ask.
IT’S WHOOPEE TIME TONIGHT!!! :-D
Phew! It’s getting hot in here!
It would seem that Frank’s ‘compass’ will be pointing North any minute now.
Hmmm. Nancy seems to be moving downward.
And then Nancy gave even more lip service to the root of the problem!
Whoa, this is going somewhere
…The WINNER takes it all…The loser has to fall…. It’s simple and it’s plain…Why should Frank complain??… LOL Looks likes Frank is about to receive a “prize” he will enjoy. =-)
Well, it looks like we have a conclusion to this week’s strip. Now we are due a couple of more happy endings. Is Tara in Utah, did Betts and Gunther have a nice pirate dinner, does Tiffany have a new business and last but not least, what’s going on with Jack.
uh what’s she doing under those covers?
Come on readers, Frank has been down in the dumps after Nancy got hit on. She knows he’s depressed so she’s going to remind him how much she cares and loves him the only way she knows how—
Nancy knows how make Frank feel sure about himself♡. Frank is a great man and Nancy is a great woman. They are perfect for each other♡. So in love ♡♡♡♡.
There was Norwegian Wood, now Frank wood!
Nancy said a mouthful…or is about to have a mouthful
Either way it’ll put Frank’s mind at ease but hopefully he’ll reciprocate
ok i read the one comment and the replies… But did no one notice Nancy has slid down in bed and the look on Franks face. Sometimes you over think
Looks like she’s going for the wiener not the winner….
Oh, how silly. So Nancy is flattered that a stranger hit on her – that has nothing to do with her husband or his attentiveness or their relationship. It’s nice to know you still got it (and that doesn’t mean that something is lacking at home, though I don’t know where this storyline is going.)
I suppose there will be a new story line on Monday. Maybe we’ll get back to Bets’ “pirate banquet”—to which nobody will show up! ;-)
In the last panel, it looks like Nancy is sliding down under the covers to give Frank his prize.
Oh! Where’s she going…
Good girl, Nancy …..
In the last panel, she definitely looks like she’s awarding (or about to award) the winner’s trophy.
It wouldn’t kill you to give her more attention
The two sides are, Nancy is thrilled someone else finds her attractive.
Frank is upset that he hasn’t gotten that reaction from her for quite a while, maybe he’s hasn’t been doing enough.
If we’re right on shat appears Nancy is going to do, hopefully Frank simply enjoys it, and does think she’s doing it because, the new attention or to pacify him to change the subject.
This could end the arc or cause it to continue.
Frank never considered he could be the winner, poor guy!
Orrrrrrr, does this leave Frank in the “wonder who got her all hot and bothered this time” whenever Nancy feels like getting physical from here on out?
Anyone else think that the last panel is unusually suggestive for a Luann comic?
Get your appetite anywhere you wish, but eat at home.
How many days is Greg going to give this now tired story line? Already I believe it had been more than the long awaited trip to New York – one that could have offered so varied possibilities but went nowhere. Yes…I am still upset about that one.
See beyond your nose Frank. You have a secure loving marriage. That is truly a wonderful gift.
This is really disgusting material for a comic strip. My reaction was immediate gross out. Just don’t need to have the act portrayed in a platform available to all ages. I don’t know what they are thinking, but they just turned Nancy into a woman who manipulates her husband with sex and Frank into a man who will settle for the easy compromise. They could have shown them in bed face to face reaffirming their love for each other but instead chose to jump in the gutter. Oh well, maybe next week will be interesting.
Aaaand what does it say about a woman who feels neglected, ignored and taken for granted in her marriage being the one who has to initiate a physical act to satiate the man and bolster HIS self-esteem? That can’t be very satisfying, always being the one who has to cave and do the deed that will make HIM feel better. Frank is a whiny baby who doesn’t have the balls to show his own wife how much he loves her either inside or outside of the bedroom.
Nancy just got herself out of that that sticky mess. And now she is sliding down the under the covers to award the first prize.
Looks like Frank is about to reap the benefits …
It wouldn’t bother me if that happens to my wife. I know she’s always coming home to me, and it would make her feel good about herself. She would be a better wife for it…
Nancy has done a huge amount of damage to her husband’s ego (and her marriage) by feeding HER ego. There was no need to even throw that whole event into her husbands face in the first place.
Well, let’s see if @Tabby apologizes to @JOEL for being so wrong. :-/
the older a woman gets the more she craves the same virility that men do. It is just nice to feel like a beautiful woman. Give it up guys or you’ll have to quit ogling those young things
Talk about settling.
“I’m with YOU, Frank, but right now Imma gonna imagine I’m with that other guy…”
It does if she’s heading down under the covers!
“Because I’ll be thinking about HIM while I do it with YOU!”
In the “Italian-American Dictionary of English” there’s a picture of this gidrul at the entry for “stunod”.
She’s sliding down awful low in that last frame. I’m surprised Pastis’s Comic Censor hasn’t popped in
Somewhere around Wednesday I commented that this episode would end with Frank and Nancy in bed with Nancy making some lame attempt to rescue Frank’s feelings.
I mention this because it seems that a prediction that I make turns out to be correct about once a year. So ignore any subsequent predictions I make this year; I’ve used my correct one already.
This is my favorite Luann strip in a long time!
As she slips beneath the covers!!!
I’m glad she pointed that out in the last panel; they’re a good couple and every now and then they need to realize how much they mean to each other.
That’s all the time we have today folks. Join us Monday for a new story that goes nowhere.
The action takes place in the fourth panel, as always.
Nope he is not the winner. She simply thinks she could have done better but has settled. So I guess that makes her the loser.
IMO, it doesn’t matter where she works up an appetite as long as she eats with her husband.
Oh my, looks like Nancy is ready to um… get down.
Oh for heaven’s sake!
Talk about insecurity!
Do all women have to “support” their men this way?
—until she dumps you for Mr. Smooth….
DAMN! She’s headed SOUTH!
“and I got her, that makes me the winner”
and then they banged!
Frank (And Brad) should thank their lucky stars every day that they were somehow able to attract and keep such gorgeous wives. They are both nice, decent guys, but Nancy and Toni could have found nice guys who are better looking or have better social skills.
The guy made her feel attractive. so she deserves to enjoy that. The last time Frank said or did anything to stir Nancy’s libido was probably the night they conceived Luann!
Anybody heard from Mordock!
Yes it does indeed my friend……
another remark like Luann’s to make Frank feel like the winner, the ‘hottie’ in all of this.
You notice in the last panel she is sliding beneath the covers
I think this will be what has become one of the week-long home life in the new reality of Frank, Nancy and Luann in the barmaid series. Monday opened with Frank discounting Nancy’s work effort. Barmaid?? A little shot to her ego followed by a snicker that she could have been “hit on.” Her return shot starts in panel three and continues into Tuesday, extolling the virtues of Mr. Charming-Dreamy. Luann piles on to complete the dig at Frank’s manhood. His feeble attempts to change the subject are rebuffed.
Frank makes it perfectly clear on Thursday that his problem is that Nancy seems to enjoy her bar activities too much. The underlying message is that he see it as a potential threat too his happy home and/or attractive male self-image. Friday is inane displacement banter. Then today, GnK end the episode with an ambiguous depiction of Nancy soothing Frank’s ruffled feathers. I am in the camp of those that see a sexual innuendo depicted in the final panel. A bit of a trope about how easy it is to elevate one’s husband’s mood but, hey!
It works in toons, but come next Monday, Frank will wonder just how enamored Nancy was/is of other men flirting with her at work. Enough to rate a “special treat” at bedtime to throw him off or to assuage her guilty feelings?
“You Could Cut The Attention With A Knife”
“Place: Your Bed!”
and winning every day since he won her heart.
Well played, Nancy.
Is there anyone here who enjoys the story just for the story and the amusing or endearing quotes? Or just enjoys the story?
At least Brad and Toni haven’t been seeing this. Don’t think they want to see themselves in 20 years.
She’s got HIS Number.
His face is saying… “And, BOOM goes the dynamite”!
Winner takes all is always a good thing!
Screw all this:Listen to this: talk about undying love?
The Archway music: John Curtin, lyrics & melody, Joel Pirard, arrangement, Jester’s Promenade Curtin, Pirard, & Bruce Henninger ( drums and percussion )
She was a raven-haired beauty, She was a reason for life. ’When she looked at me the light did shine "I’d never had that feeling before.“In the mystic garden, in the cooling rain Singing out our lives as we danced upon the plain
Like a living fantasy, a dream to behold Who could imagine, how the tale would unfold?
And when we would meet, with mischief in her eyes The fullness of my heart would almost make me cry.
Once in a lifetime, one gets to feel free The meeting of souls, come to pass.-
In the sadness of time, she suddenly died, The unbreakable bond torn apart
What could I do, I was losing my mind All alone with the pieces of my heart
So I ran to the Archway, where we first met, I sat there and I cried out to the stars
How long it was, I don’t know, I can’t recall Somehow a voice, that I could hear Looking up I saw her, on the other side
Smiling as always she said: “Promises broken, have not happened here, we’ll be together again”
The light in the Archway shimmered as she spoke. “Remember my love I will be here, waiting for you"
She held up her hand in a gesture of farewell, “Remember I’ll always be here, waiting for you.
Remember I’ll always be here, waiting for you, in the Archway, I’ll be waiting for you…
through the Archway, on the other side…”
THEY WERE CHILDREN TOO
AS THE BLIND MAN STOOD TO GO, THE MAN IN BLACK SAID GO DOWN SLOW OH WELL
HE JUST SHUFFLED OFF DOWN THE DUSTY ROAD, DOING EVERYTHING THAT HE WAS TOLD OH YEAH
LONELY PEOPLE NEED SOMETHING TO FEEL LONELY PEOPLE NEEDING SOMETHING REAL
THEY ARE THE LONELY UNDERGROUND, THE ONES THAT WE DONT WANT AROUND BUT THEY WERE CHILDREN TOO
SO THE CROWD WATCHED AS HE BALANCED ON THE LEDGE, DRIVEN TO THE EDGE OF LIFE
FEELING ALL ALONE IN A CROWDED ROOM, COULD ONLY FORESEE HIS OWN DOOM OH WELL
“MUST BE HIGH” SOMEBODY SAID OUT LOUD. “PEOPLE LIKE THAT GET LOST IN THE CROWD.”
LONELY WALKERS IN THE RAIN TRAVEL ON IN SILENT PAIN, BUT THEY WERE CHILDREN TOO
AND THE BLIND MAN TOOK A STAND, THE MAN IN BACK TOOK HIS HAND, HELD HIGH
SAID “LISTEN PEOPLE TO WHAT HE SAYS, HE MAY BE BLIND, BUT HE SEES MORE THAN YOU”

Sunday: Shannon finds a puzzling thing at Brad & Toni’s.
A lot not to like about today’s strip. Notice that Nancy’s joy has been robbed from her and now she feels that she has to make nice to insecure Frank. He didn’t ask, “Do I give you enough attention?” Which would bring the focus to Nancy. What he asked was defensive and meant to guilt Nancy over her little thrill. Pal, if she’s mentioning the attention another man gave to her, either, NO you are not doing enough, OR she was secure in the relationship to share, but you aren’t secure enough to let her enjoy. Either way, Frank better up his game. It does appear that Nancy is getting frisky, but we may be reading too much into it like that “firming cream” episode.
Frank for the win! Loving Nancy pays off!
Look at his eyes! What is she doing? Is this an adult comic now?
Looks like Nancy is heading South for the winner
Did Tara leave for Utah? Or Tara still couch-surfing on the Degroot’s sofa?
I always go home with the most interesting man in the room. Still going home with him.
Oil of Old Guy: It can help you look younger too.
She chose you and, noting that she’s heading down under the covers, I think she’s about to prove how you’re her #1.
