way to put a fun idea in your family members’ heads, Luann
Now it’s really fun.
Shannon returns! And all are having a good time.
And Luann made a much better suggestion today than yesterday.
(Though I gave her a pass on yesterday. We are creatures of habit)
A fudge bar is a terrible thing to waste.
Wonder why Brad doesn’t leave since he dropped Shannon off for babysitting? Or is he not wanting to miss out on the fun eating the fudge bars?
I love the Grand Awakening in panel 2.
“Did somebody sat fudge bars!?!?”
It’s a week of Sundays.
Nice little vignette. Time for bed.
Watching the emergency light is fun? Lucky that Luann remember the fudge bars in the refrigerator. Hopefully, the Electric Power Outage will end on Saturday. Maybe, they switch to different household. BTW, where is Nancy Degroot?
TG stole my line. I defy anyone to come up with a long, what the story line is with this other than warm, fun, tasty. OOPs almost I did, but I won’t which I am sure some cheer.
Puddles: from concern, to curiosity, to contentment. All is well.
A fudge bar is delicious.
“Wow, Auntie Lulu, let’s leave the ’lectricity off all the time!”
“The family that eats fudge bars together, … uh, … stays together"
… yeah, that’s it ….
Must be a new moon night? No moonlight shinning through the windows. Why is Frank sitting on the couch without Nancy? There only one emergency light in the Degroots` house. Bernice might be at the Halpers for a family dinner.
Since we are all interested in all the minutiae of everything going on in the strip, I’ll ask the pertinent question – who went and got the fudge bars out of the freezer? Inquiring minds want to know…
This is Sunday material. We need a story!
Inconveniences lead to bonding. With no electronics, they’ll be telling campfire stories.
Yes enjoy your fudge bars.
In the meantime, $500 worth of food is going to waste in the freezer. Eventually.
By the way.
It’s early in the blackou, but have you notice that the DeGroot Clan has yet to express ANY concern for:
Last outage the food lasted the 3 days the power was out. I now have a generator just for the fridge and recharging stuff.
Great suggestion Luann! Wasting fudge bars would be unforgivable!!! It feels like a sweet, tender, fun (and tasty) family moment ♡♡♡. This reminds us how facing difficulties together can unite and help rediscover pleasant things to do together.
a closed fridge is good for 24 hours. by opening it to get the fudge you compromised everything else.
Finally!!! Hilarity has now ensued!!!
Yeah, did anyone else think the “Wheel of Fortune” puzzle missed it with their “FUDGE POPSICLE”? I’ve never heard them called that, always “FUDGESICLE”.
I could use an ice cream sandwich right now.
Now it’s fun!
Clever, Luann, clever
We always had board games and a deck of cards on hand for power outages. Being in Tornado Alley, we also had cases of water, hard candies, tins of cookies, powdered milk, cocoa and cider mixes, small juice bottles, Coleman lanterns and camp stoves, tent, sleeping bags…
I won’t knock it, but actually a freezer will keep food frozen for at least 24 hours or longer if you don’t open it.
“Always look on, the BRIGHT Side of LIFE !!” … :)
Always look for the bright side.
A freezer will stay frozen for up to 48 hours if YOU DON’T OPEN IT.
Problem solved. Anyone care for another?……
First thing I get after the lantern!
From experience, freezers are good for a couple of days it you don’t open them.
Eat the ice cream because it’s going to melt!
That reminds me, the Degroots blackout may be melting the moose tracks ice-cream in my freezer.
Like Shannon really needs more sugar.
Siegfried and Roy are reunited — but it may not feel so good.
Siegfried Fischbacher, the surviving member of the duo has passed away at the age of 81.
May he be in Magician Heaven, performing wonderful magic with his deceased partner.
R. I. P.
This has been a fun thread, but I kind of want to go back to Tiffany to see what she’s been up to. (Maybe next week or the week after?)
as long as you don’t open the door the insulation on a modern refrigerator should keep your food frozen for at least 24 hours
Who would have thought that a power outage could be portrayed as fun. :)
Luann’s silly suggestion yesterday is clearly overcome today with this winner of a suggestion.
It is interesting to note that the power outage has THUS FAR seemingly reduced some of Shannon’s energy as well…. and she has also been displaying GREAT behavior…. helpfulness, happiness, “going-with-the-flow”, etc.
When I was in high school an ice storm caused downed power lines. The outage lasted almost a week.
We got dry ice & packed it into the refrigerator & freezer, which kept things at the temperature they needed to be.
That’s what I’m talking about!
Always look on the bright side of life.
wow…. some of y’all are waaaay too serious about this LOL
And now I find myself craving ice cream.
Not really a huge fan of fudge bars, but I acknowledge a good thing when I see it….
When the power goes out, refrain from opening the fridge/freezer unless necessary. Each time you open you decrease the time items will remain cold/frozen by letting in warm air.
I thought Brad had to leave!
The FDA says:
• The refrigerator will keep food cold for about 4 hours if it is unopened.
• A full freezer will keep the temperature for approximately 48 hours (24 hours if it is half full) if the door remains closed.
Since the electric stove is out, Nancy is in the kitchen getting dinner ready. The fudgecicles are not the only the only thing she took out of the freezer. Everyone is having frozen spinach on a stick and she’s using Frank’s hacksaw to cut everyone portions of Stouffer’s beef lasagna. Bon Appétit, y’all…
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade . . . ?
Puddles looks content in the last frame…
I’m surprised Puddles doesn’t want a fudge bar.
Save the Fudge Bars.
Always, save the Fudge Bars.
because power is out all over town
Tomorrow: segue’ to Bernice? or?
Looks like Brad didn’t go anywhere. Cute how they all turned at once and saved the fudge bars from melting. Did Nancy get one as well? ;-D
Leave the fridge and freezer doors shut……. read a book with a flashlight……. chill out……..there’s plenty time for worrying later on.
I like the last panel..
