a cat/kitten fight over cookies and maturity
And people think Shannon is the brat?
The old saying is: “Many a truth is said in jest.” And today’s strip has a lot of truth about some people’s natures!
Well, that settles the question of whether or not Shannon gets whatever she demands. Obviously not.
Hey, works for me.
You’re just taller, Luann.
Some might beg to differ, Luann!
Brad would give her a cookie.
Shannon has Luann on the ropes.
“I hate you, Mr. Green.”
“No, you don’t. You love me. Everybody loves me. You’re just ashamed to admit it, but that’s okay, I love you too.”
Years later they told my beloved, “I love Mr. Green. Everybody loved Mr. Green and he loved us.”
(Brainwashing works. Oh, by the way, I love all of you. (Don’t stop when you’re on a roll.))
Watch out Luann! Shannon bites!
Adults buy and own the cookies. Buy and own the cookies and become the adult.
Luann is mirroring Shannon’s behavior to her. Sheer genius. Luann is gifted in this regard.
I totally agree with Luann. Especially about eating the cookie to make Shannon understand who is the boss
I’m shocked this sunday comic didn’t end with “i know you are but what am i…i know you are but what am i..” hahaha
Not unusual for strong-willed kids to challenge adult authority when it interferes with something the child wants. I agree that Luann is using brilliant child psychology dealing with this very normal kind of behavior from a child who can be bratty at times. That is a good foundation for Shannon’s future personality development. See I didn’t use foible for those persnickety types. (lol)
Just a little tête-à-tête. :o)
really!!! some teenagers are the worst brats!!
Shannon could ALWAYS be told " If you feel that way, we’ll call your dad. Try that on him."
Oh LEAVE Luann ALONE, People!
Her House, Her Cookies: Her Rules! And it’s high time SOMEBODY, introduced this kid to “rules.”
At least Luann didn’t use the “Because I’m BIGGER than You!” Defense…….., :)
For all the Shannon haters out there, this one’s for you.
Time spent, Shannon.
I agree. “Phhpt.”
Childhood obesity is burgeoning.
Indifference is worse than hate. At least Luann cares. :)
If Shannon had said, “ May I please have a cookie”, she probably would have gotten one, instead of what she did say.
Shannon’s approach was wrong in the first frame though she is “attempting to learn the rules”. The second frame is Luann explaining to Shannon in her terms. The third, well… a little show off of adult privilege?
I like Shannon the way Mr. Wilson like Dennis.
Now I want a cookie.
Seven gazillion bizillion gumtigillion pentillion centillion google-plex infinity-cubed etc.
At least someone will call a brat a brat.
I think she is
no more Shannon
Shannon’s height appears diminished for the purpose of today’s cartoon. She appears only 3 feet tall – or not much more than half Luann’s height. A 6-7 year old should be closer to 4 feet.
Today’s strip is odd. Luann has never treated Shannon like this and Shannon has always loved spending time with Luann. I wonder if Greg actually wrote today’s comic. The drawing seems a little different too.
Speaking of adult behavior – go in and clean up the mess you brought in from camping, Ms DeGroot.
and she has a stupid haircut too!
You’re being mean, Luann!
What makes an adult ? Opinions vary; it’s either the years or the mileage.
Still wondering if Luann gets paid for watching Shannon. Maybe sometimes yes and sometimes just for being part of the family.
Ok, Missbehavior I mean misbehavior.
This reminds me of “Provocative Therapy”, the controversial technique developed by the late Frank Farrelly. Some people are naturals at this, and Luann is one of them.
I want to see if Jack and Luann develop more. Maybe its smooching time for Jack and Luann
Oh, yeah, well I’m rubber and you’re glue!
too much psycho-babble people! Remember how we keep saying that the Sunday strips are unconnected to the dailies? Well, same goes here for Shannon’s behavior; it has no connection with anything going on other than setting up today’s Sunday laugh.
Um, so much for an adult setting an example. Lulu has a long way to go towards adulthood and maturity.
And the judges’ decision… rum-a-tum-tum DA Dum!
Luann wins! By the narrowest of margins, less than half a point!
(Luann isn’t behaving all that admirably, but basically I am happy to see it getting stuck to Shannon.)
Say goodnight, Shannon.
A “gumptigilion” I like that.
It’s not about “who is the adult” it’s about who owns the cookies (although, that is really Luann’s parents, so…)
As Toddler-Type-Titans Lock Horns!! :)
