“♪…Well… I guess he’d say… it was only 2 months away!…♪” – Is this another case of Gunther doing “the Safety Dance”?… – Is Rosa anxious to say: “I told you so!” when it comes to taking the initiative?… – Did Les actually have a point?… – Does anybody have change for a $5?…..

Amazing that Leslie is calm, logical and mature. Rosa goes from "I’m listening " in the first panel to “Yeah, Gunther” in the second panel, to Maybe Les isn’t so bad and Gunther is hopeless in the third panel. Or maybe she will say yes to Les to teach Gunther a lesson.

Can’t believe one moment she is enthralled with manly Gunther who stands up for her and now she is ……..

-today’s teenage girl will expect her boyfriend to ask her to the prom -I guarantee you that yesterday’s teenage girl expects to be asked to a prom, too. The idea that when teens are dating, it’s implied that they will go to a prom is like saying that when two twentysomethings have been dating, there doesn’t have to be a marriage proposal because it’s ‘implied’.

Sheesh!!! Imagine how happy parents would be about spending an arm and a leg on a prom dress, and the day of the prom, the ‘date’ doesn’t show up….

howthe,I’ve heard it.It is silly in context, but I’ve heard it.Just as when someone says, “My country,” they are not claiming ownership but being part of, linked inextricably to that country. Those who equate it with “my dog” or “my slave” are usually just being silly..Admittedly, some can’t make the distinction but Gunther has never acted as if he is one of them.(Rosa shows some tendencies along those lines with how she took control over Gunther, but I shall give her the benefit of the doubt.)

Prom-posals are like marriage proposals…. In my day, (1950,s) just dating would call for an invitation well in advance. If you were “going steady” all dances were presumed a done deal. Asking someone’s steady out was never never done.

Gunther isn’t necessarily taking any steps backward, at this point… it could be that he’s made small strides forward, as Rosa was proud to relate to Crystal and Knute…. (remember his reaction when Les “Knox” the books out of her hand?) it could be just a natural “testing of his metal”, or the “forced” testing possibly, at Les’ hands…. Les’ proposition is just making Gunther seem foolish at the moment… but again, remember that as of Monday’s strip, all seemed to be looking a “bit” forward in the progress department…

-Apparently you’ve paid as much attention to the words that Rosa has used to explain her concerns about Gunther as you’ve paid to my words.-Rosa has been the one taking all the initiative in asking Gunther out. She has no reason to assume that she has a prom date with Gunther, unless she’s invited him. She hasn’t said that she’s invited him. -So who, exactly, is going to DISCUSS what? If Les hadn’t asked Rosa to the prom and she wanted to go (given Gunther’s past lack of initiative), Rosa would have had to invite him. -And why the diatribe on whether people can afford to mortgage a home for a limo or a dress; that was not my point at all….-Sigh. Oh,well, it’s as absurd for me to try to carry on a conversation with you as it is for me to believe that I’ll buy a winning lottery ticket. Thanks for letting me know what a poor use of my time it is to read your comments or try to talk to you….

alanada, even if a woman says she just wants to be Mrs John Smith, that does not she necessarily wants a subservient role. It all depends on what she thinks and intends that role to entail. Many intend to manipulate their husbands like puppets. Others come to it when they realize their husbands do not have the driving ambition they took for granted.
