So Trump’s tax returns get released. They show extensive examples of knowing (illegal) tax evasion (such as employing schemes that had already been ruled illegal in earlier cases, so he knew better), as well as (legal) tax avoidance by using loopholes, gaming the system to avoid paying taxes commensurate with his wealth.
Further, it shows that he was NOT under audit, which was the entire excuse he used for not releasing them as he had promised, thanks to >wink, wink, nod, nod from the IRS head he appointed< even though that was legally required for a president and all other modern presidents had been audited every year.
The real question arises: did he want to hide his tax records because…
a) they showed his extensive ILLEGAL tax evasion? or
b) they showed how much he had lost from his FAILURE as a “businessman”? or
c) they showed the extent to which he was propped up by Putin, the Saudis and other dictators? or
d) some combination of the above?
When the tax returns were first requested four years ago, it was promised they would be kept confidential, and I agreed with that intent. But after Trump resisted and appealed and delayed for more than three years, until they were finally released with NO CHANCE FOR PROPER OVERSIGHT for legislative purposes before being turned over to Trump cronies, the only recourse became public release so that the legitimate issues could be publicly litigated in the “court of public opinion” and by other tax and legal experts.
Does college-dropout Lisa really not understand any of this? Or is she intentionally trying to obfuscate and lie and divert attention with misinformation? The Trump / Lisa / Republican policy: just lie and say it is whatever you want people to think it is, without regard for what it actually is.
