Once again, Lisa Benson demonstrates how her lack of higher education has left her utterly ignorance of what the debt ceiling is and how it works.

Republicans are just following the Trump playbook: run up massive debts and refuse to pay when the bills come due. Stiff the creditors. It is the economic foundation of today’s TrumpubliQan party of Trump.

The debt ceiling is not a limit on incurring debt; it is a limit on paying back debts we have already committed to. No other industrialized nation has a fixed-dollar statutory debt ceiling similar to how ours is structured (several have nominal debt ceilings, but they are self-adjusting based on GDP or other fluid conditions).

It would be like me imposing a wholly-fabricated, artificial “debt ceiling” and then refusing to pay any credit card bills that exceeded my made-up “limit” — you can imagine what that would do to my credit!

Control of debt should occur at the time debt is incurred, not at the time when the bills come due and it is time to pay them.

Simp-Lisa-tic . Of course it’s been the GOP and GQP mantra for 40+ years. If they ever actually did something to fix it, I’d be more inclined to believe them about it this time. Nah. Liars they were, liars they are, and DAMNED liars still.

Loony Lisa continues to peddle the lie about the debt ceiling. This isn’t for money the Democrats want to spend, this is for the $Trillions the Republicans already spent on their tax Cut and Spend Scams. Not that the bill has come due, they practice what they do best; Spend and Dash.

Yup, the Republicans running up about 8 trillion of debt couldn’t have anything to do with raising the debt ceiling.

Three times the Democrats had no drama, didn’t hold America hostage and raised the debt ceiling under Trump’s mismanagement, but now a bunch of grandstanding, that could cost American people heavily in taxes and raised interest rates. Others with government paid jobs could be more directly impacted.

This is for spending authorized by Congress under President Trump. The bill has now come due. It’s like you refusing to make your credit card payment. McConnell has refused to allow his Qpublican Senators to vote to raise the debt ceiling because he says the Dems are using their majority to shove bills through, not negotiating in good faith. Which is complete B.S….cough…cough…Supreme Court Justices nominations….

Didn’t bother the Republicans when they raised the Debt Ceiling, with a proforma vote, when they ruled both the House and Senate. Now it’s "Oh my god! The Dems want to “break the bank of the U.S.”. Talk about hypocrisy!

The ceiling is past the moon if you stack all the Dollars we owe now, how much higher can it go? The sky’s the limit. Let it blow up, who is going to force us to pay up, just print more. It’s the same thing every year.

We only default if we fail to pay the interest on our debt. Current monthly revenue is about $300 billion. Current monthly interest on the debt is about $45 billion. We have more than enough coming in every month to pay the interest. The only way to default this year is if the Sec of Treasury intentionally fails to pay the interest, which would result in a global depression. Come to think of it, I wouldn’t put it past the leftists who do not want to let a good disaster go to waste.

Basic math 101: “If you SPEND MORE then you TAKE IN, eventually you will go broke! You can borrow more to put it off for a while, but sooner or later it WILL catch up with you!”

There are ONLY 3 SOLUTIONS: You can #1: INCREASE YOUR INCOME, or #2: LOWER YOUR EXPENSES, OR #3: Try a Balance of BOTH at the same time.

What I don’t get is why a bunch of supposedly educated people in Congress seem to have such a hard time grasping this concept.

Once again, Lisa Benson demonstrates her hypocrisy. She didn’t give a rats a$$ about the debt when the Dumpster Fire and his Russian Bought Cronies in Congress increased the debt by trillions with no way to pay for it. At least Biden is trying to come up with a way to pay for his sorely needed programs.

It’s a shame, that we cannot sue — and remove — our dysfunctional, divided Congress for their failure to work with each other as intended by the US Constitution … but, rather, cherry-pick portions of the Constitution to satisfy their political “ideologies”, thus putting party above our UNITED States. Why should the entire US population suffer for a willful minority?

For all the people whining about the GOP I will point out the Democrats have control of the Executive and Legislative branches. This is ALL on them and they can’t even agree. C’mon.

2K pages in the bill? Has anybody really read it? No. . . . .

How many people know it will target married people and raise taxes on them?

The only reason there’s a bomb about to go off is because of the refusal to pay our debts. This is completely self-inflicted by the GOP. They are willing to ruin the American economy if that’s what it takes to make the Democrats look bad. What more proof can you have that they don’t actually represent American individuals?

I see Wiz is performing his verbal vomit with his disinformation, propaganda and lies. Americans can see what a dismal failure is the Biden administration every time they get a tank of gas, buy groceries, buy lumber, see the hordes of illegal aliens pouring across the border, look at the Afghanistan debacle, understand that he has done NOTHING to contribute to combating Covid-19 that President Trump hasn’t already done, destroyed our energy independence and has devastated our economy with his inflationary policies. So much more but that is just a sample. Unlike Wizzer, everything I posted is independently verifiable. I see the the left and the Democrats are on a self destructive path and are trying to drag the rest of the USA into a socialist dystopia. It’s all good for the lefties in power, but it’s totally suckful for everyone else including the useful idiots like Wiz, Rad, SuperP, Concrete etc. If they all get their dream, they’ll be standing in lines for TP, basic foods and necessities. Venezuela anyone? The old USSR?

If we raise the debt “limit” (again), then we don’t have a debt limit. It’s time to stop the madness! It’s time to boot the socialists and communists out of our government.

I’m not sure that I can add anything to the discussion but I’m going to try. As an Independent voter I am not beholden to either of the kindergarten parties that are called Congress and that is how BOTH the republigoon and the Democrats in D.C. are acting right now, like kindergarten children I heard something on the radio today and I wanted to verify it before I commented on it. It has been reported on multiple LEGITIMENT news sources here in Washington state that McConnell and the republigoons offered the childish Democrats a deal to vote on the spending / debt ceiling and they do the infrastructure bill through something called reconciling. This would have raised the debt limit until sometime next year. The childish Democrats instead took the two month option. That means that, instead of looking at this again next year, they will have to revisit this before the year is out! Now, I can’t speak for others and, unlike k.e. bk quest and those of that ilk, I wont try. I will say that, this is one tax paying voter ( I bet that I pay more than some of y’all do) I am tired of the fucking games where the citizens of this great country is concerned! It’s time these overpriced imbeciles were put on an hourly wage and make them pay for their own health-care just like the people of this country are. This is one voter who will be voting differently next election!

Whenever there’s a Democrat in the White House (Clinton, Obama, Biden), the debt (and the debt ceiling is a sign of the Apocalypse. But when there’s a Republican in the White House (Reagan, Bush 1, Bush 2, Trump) there’s nothing wrong with racking up the debt because a) it’s good for the economy and b) Jesus will come before the bill is due.
