Simply solution would be to have one and only one issue per bill written in plain English, not ambiguous/obscure legalese from now on.

Yes, packing everybody’s pet project into needed legislation has been a problem since Congress has existed as a near-year-round body. Why do politicians leave office richer than they came in? Thanks, Lisa. Cute cartoon. :)

Three words: 2017 Tax Bill; just look at the crap that was put in it to benefit specific small interest groups and not all Americans. Today’s Congress has a vendetta against stand alone bills that are meant to help America. If only it was against procedure to add amendments that have nothing to do with the bill. By the way, listening to Hannity whine about measures to help farmers and ranchers in the bill was hilarious. Thought Conservatives were all about rural and agricultural America; oh wait, it was helping the families and not Corporate agriculture and meat producers.

The orange one signed 3 covid relief bills in rapid succession. Total – approx. 2T. They had their pork also. Where were your gripes back then?

I seem to remember that a few years ago they passed a resolution or something that prevented adding pork to bills just to get something passed. Either it got changed again or they just ignore it. Adding things to bills just to sneak them by is one of the worst things that happens in congress and state legislatures. It needs to be stopped.

Although I’m also not a fan of add-ons that are not directly related to a bill, I am more dismayed by the political climate in DC that created the need and justifications for that practice. It’s a climate that has existed for decades. I’m also not keen on one party pointing the finger at the other for doing it, when they both do it, and not keen on one party obstructing the other just for the sake of making that party look bad – again, when they both do it.

Most Republicans/conservatives I know, and the very few on these comment section that haven’t been shadow banned, have always voiced their opposition against pork barrel spending. Regarding the signifying left here, as I posted earlier, you don’t justify bad actions with previous bad actions.

Hey, Lisa, your physics is off. The tie downs are in the wrong place, just like your morality and good sense. Now, if you could fill the boxes with corporate pork and goodies for the one percenters, then you’d be all for it.

Does Biden’s Bill give $1,000,000 to the Dallas First Baptist Church as Trump’s did? Did you complain about that pork delivered to a church who’s minister was one of Trump’s most visible supporters, Lisa?

Leave it to Lisa to lie about this package. if you wanted one full of goodies and pork, look no farhter than the Tax Cut and Spend Scam T-p and his allies passed.

This bill has over 76% support of everyone in the US, except T-P party republicans.

“Goodies” and “Pork” ARE Covid relief. The whole point is to help people suffering from Covid. Raising the minimum wage would:

    1) Incentivize returning to work after the pandemic2) provide workers with more money3) increase consumer spending, thus reviving the whole economy

Lisa and other Republicans would prefer Americans get no relief at all than to have any “pork” (Read as money that doesn’t go to the 1%).

Like all Trump Disciples, Lisa LIES about what’s in the bill.

    .

Republicans* want NO covid relief of ANY kind. Criticizing pork is the ONLY way they can denigrate what they don’t want to happen.

The only way Republicans* would want covid relief of ANY kind would be if the checks could be signed by The Messiah.

    .

*Republicans are now the Party Of Trump.

What garbage. A large and wide ranging COVID relief package is necessary because RepupliCONs (like you) ignored AND MINIMIZED the pandemic, the deaths, the economic devastation for a YEAR! Now you just want shift blame. You are a shameless hack, Lisa Benson.

    The GOP agenda:

“Pork” is only a problem when it benefits ordinary people, it’s perfectly acceptable when it benefits the obscenely rich and mega-corporations.

Lisa is, of course, a proponent of this agenda.

What a load of tripe. Here’s a breakdown of what’s in it and some sense of where it goes. I’ve marked with “cov” the items which, IMO, are clearly Covid-19. There are percentages of the total for each group, and the number for each line item is in billion $. I’m getting a total of ~2.0 trillion, with 1.8 trillion clearly aimed at things that most folks would say are Covid specific.

Reference here for a nice chart: https://www.visualcapitalist.com/the-anatomy-of-the-2-trillion-covid-19-stimulus-bill/

    Individuals 30%

    Large corp 25%

For Ms Benson, if it benefits the people, it’s “pork,” but, if it benefits the wealthy and corporations, then it’s “necessary for the economy.” Again, Ms Benson provides proof positive that she’s got her airhead up her . . . where the sun doesn’t shine. She’s not a legitimate political commenter. She’s a SHILL, writ large. It’s a form of prostitution.

The moratorium on riders has crippled your own chosen party, Lisa. Party leaders have been unable to control fruitcakes like Greene because they cannot use the threat of withholding the goodies Congressional senators and representatives could bring back to their states and districts. Congresspeople score points for re-election back home. When it becomes clear that Greene won’t be of any benefit to people, corporations, etc., back home, she’ll be gone.
