One day conservatives will actually have to stop barking at Liberals and form a cogent thought in order to survive in the real world. By then, of course, it will be too late. It already is too late. . .
Under the Re-Thugs tax plans the 1% get a 20 oz. prime ribeye every day and we get a chicken hotdog. After seven years they take away the hot dog and demand we pay for the steaks.
That should be Trump dancing around on his ‘build the wall’ promise and that Mexico will pay for it, but instead he has to pick the pockets of the American taxpayer. Can’t wait to count how many lies we hear to justify his reasoning when he goes to address the nation, hope the military can stop this invasion until he can deliver on his campaign pledge or Rush and Sean and those other shock jock clowns might get upset, and we couldn’t have that.
All the Republicans did for the last two years was give billionaires and corporations more tax breaks at the expense of the tax payer who now has to foot the 1.5 trillion dollar bill the Republicans wasted.
Dear Lisa: “While it is NOT true that most Conservatives are stupid people, it IS true that most stupid people are Conservatives”, and you are a bright, shining example of this.
Sincerely, Thinking Americans who actually KNOW what’s going on, unlike you. Have a nice day.
Ocasio-Cortez is looking at the top that currently DON’T pay their fair share of taxes. That ridiculous tax cut is what has taken money OUT of the pockets of average tax payers by eliminating many of the deductions they relied on. When the top tax rate was higher, there was money for education, a space program, investment in new technology and support for those who needed it.
The proposed 70% would be for income over $10 MILLION. There needs to be investment in renewables; fossil fuel subsidies were put in place over a century ago when it was a new industry; unfortunately they are still in place but somehow there is no money for renewables. That is why China is leading in solar; the “clean rooms” required to manufacture solar panels are a HUGE investment. Trump’s 5 year tariffs on solar panels from China won’t help U.S. manufacturers set-up, it just raises costs for construction.
Most people agree that the best years, the happiest years, for the country, when we were the most productive in the world, and doing marvelous things like the Interstate highway system and the moon project and so many others, was from the late 40’s to the early 70’s. During this time the income tax rates for the richest Americans varied from 70% to 93%.
And I’d like to point out that the 70% rate suggested is a marginal rate on the income above $10 million. The marginal tax rate is the percentage of tax applied to your income for each tax bracket in which you qualify. In essence, the marginal tax rate is the percentage taken from your next dollar of taxable income above a pre-defined income threshold.
The marginal tax rate includes federal, state and local income taxes, as well as federal payroll and self-employment taxes. This differs from the average tax rate, which is the total tax paid as a percentage of total income earned.
pavlov and petecocker need to learn the meanings of the terms they are trying to use…
Yes, the Green New Deal will cause increased taxes, because anything will. Taxes in the U.S. are abnormally low by first-world standards. But the Green New Deal will also create millions of high paying jobs, improve the country’s infrastructure, and it will switch the U.S. main energy source to renewables, that can last us forever more, unlike fossil fuels.
So between the tax cuts for the rich… billions for a foolish wall… a farm bailout … 2 trillion added to the deficit. Yet we are supposed to worry about paying for something that actually benefits the rest of us and may just save our planet?? Go to bed Lisa.
Of course, it’s OK for Trump to try to extract $5B from American taxpayers for his worthless wall. That $5B is money paid by taxpayers, and don’t forget it!
I Know the Dems what a Shocking amount of Taxes. We need to go back to the Gold old Days when IKE ran the country on such an equal basis. The top tax bracket was………91% So you republs should be ok with 80% hell that is lower than your Republican hero’s top tax bracket by 12%
Fair is fair Ms. Benson. You see your cartoon as a stereotypical portrayal of progressives. Fine. Let’s see you draw the stereotypical “conservative” robbing the piggy banks, college savings, mortgages, etc. of our children and grandchildren, who will have to pay for the GOP tax gift to the super wealthy.
So anyone who wants to raise taxes is a Socialist but anyone who wants to borrow 2 Trillion dollars a year from the Chinese and give it to the super wealthy….They are “Fiscally Conservative”
The Dems balance the budget by making hard choices and the Rebubs blow up the deficit and claim to be fiscally responsible.Paul Ryan proved that no republican economic principle we will ever survive the Greed of their donors who demand action (Tax Cuts)
Guess Lisa has forgotten that Trumps Tax Deform Act heavily favored the wealthy, so now she weeps when the pendulum swings the other way. And by the way, the tax cut that was supposed to pay for itself has produced record deficits.
Ms. Cortez should take a clue on what happened to Emmanuel Macron when he tried to cram his green agenda down the common man’s throat with his gas tax.

It’s certainly helpful for Ms Benson to warn us that AOC wants to bring back the socialist tax policies of Dwight D Eisenhower.
