Oops. Looks like they realized they can’t force someone to purchase something.

^^ Actually, they can. It’ll take some ironing out in the courts, but one ruling from an activist judge who should have recused himself (he owns a company that lobbies for Republicans on health care – and is too blind to see that as a conflict of interest) doesn’t really mean much long term.

Of course they can but that doesn’t make it legal, but then against since when have the Democrats or Republicans cared about legal when pressing their agenda.

The Constitution is a document being trampled by prior and current administration and the lobby endorsed Congress/Senate.

@ARodney - The term “activist judge” is reserved solely for Constitutional rulings on issues affecting women and gays. *

Anyway, I wonder if this means that Virginia (the state that filed this suit) can’t mandate that I buy car insurance or be fined?

Ok, that was kind of cute and funny Senor.

On a side note: Forgot the other option get a certain dollar amount in the bank and you can prove proof of coverage, thats also an option.

The government forced me to pay FICA. Somebody tell me the difference.

I have to have vehicle insurance, and home insurance. Again, what is the difference?

When I was working overtime I used to offer to buy Republicans one way tickets out of the country if they didn’t come back.

In 1995 I averaged 54 hours a week, and more like 47in the 00’s just before I wa slaid off. About 50 hours a week for 32 years.

I am unemployed because of local politics.

My former employer only exists on paper and the other main employer only hires born again Christians.

You might think it is all simple and rosy. But i live in a deed restricted community, so I can’t really build signs in my garage. The County relaxed codes on signs, so they just put up banners. It does not matter how talented I am, it is all pure politics.

Which is exactly what we did. And it’s a lot easier to not buy a car (called public transportation, biking, or riding your own two feet), not buy homeowners insurance (you rent!) than it is to just leave the country (which costs money).

Insurance is a product. The government has no authority to force people to purchase a product or pay a penalty. That is overstepping their boundaries. Imagine if they forced you to buy a car, or forced you to buy a boat. Just think about the stink that would be raised over that. This is no different.
