To beek: Maybe you don’t realize that undocumented immigrants actually pour a lot more into the economy than they get out of it. That includes taxes and public services. They pay billions in taxes but, because they’re undocumented, get a lot less services than others do. And as immigrants, they contribute to the building of our economy.
Meanwhile, the wall is a $50-billion-and-counting boondoggle waiting to happen. It’s unpopular with the vast majority of folks in this country, and not a single member of Congress from the borderlands—neither Republican nor Democratic—has come out for it. Because they know it’s a ginormously bad idea that could never be fully implemented to begin with. It’s environmentally destructive, it violates treaties (remember the Constitution? Treaties are the law of the land), and it would take away land from ranchers and farmers on the border who are busy feeding you. So nope. Nobody at all should pay for it, because it just shouldn’t happen.
