Um, yeah. I’m sure the government employees see it that way. /s

Trump would rather let the American people suffer, from unpaid staff to families going hungry due to the suspension of SNAP, than to man up and actually act like a president for a change (or a man, for that manner). As for the Senate members who will back him up instead of passing a stopgap budget with a 2/3 majority, they are just as culpable and hopefully will be voted out on their next reelection attempt. What a contemptible bunch of slugs.

I’ll bet there’s a lot of people who would like to see DJT take a permanent vacation. Amazing to think that this guy is so easily influenced by Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and other washed-up shock-jocks on TV and radio for fear of losing his base and credibility, not that he ever had any really in the first place. Send Hannity, Limbaugh and the others the bill for this wall and end the shutdown. The author of The Art of the Deal is a real pro, should write another book call The Art of Bullying!

The first month social security payments are deferred rump will lose a substantial amount of his base.

Is the resident working for the best interests of all the American people as a president is expected to do?

That works well for those that have token jobs and money is never an issue.

I would like to see an enumeration of what the $5 billion would pay for in terms of services for the American people. That $5 billion is American taxpayers’ money, after all. What would $5B do toward fixing the VA, housing the homeless, improving schools and other very necessary projects?

Ever since the Tea Party brats came to power, the govt has been shut down as a political tool to pass unpopular laws.

Selfish brat Republicans are into extorting what they want, no matter what it takes.

#45, GOP “leadership,” and RWNJs don’t care about the hardship that Federal workers ( with deferred pay ) are undergoing. And they certainly don’t care about the thousands of ‘contract’ workers who won’t get any pay for the period that this government is “shutdown!”

My friend is furloughed, no back pay accruing. Fortunately, he’s been thoughtful and lucky, so he’s not hurting… yet. That’s one person who’s okay for the moment.

Why are Trump supporters behind his shut down. Trump said 1000 times Mexico will pay for the wall. Now he wants America to pay? Stay strong Dems, this is on him!!

Trump should be the one furloughed.

I wonder why so many are being ‘furloughed’. Shouldn’t we withhold pay from those who have consistently demonstrated that they don’t need the salaries they have, because they are handsomely rewarded by outside elements? In other words, shouldn’t Congress have been the first to go without pay?

    “Paid vacation”?

A “vacation” is something which is planned in advance… when it will begin and end, and how it will be spent.

The federal employees were not given an opportunity to plan when this “vacation” began, and they cannot plan in advance when it will end. They can be called back at a moment’s notice, and penalized if their personal return is delayed.

Furthermore, the payment for “vacation” time is not postponed until a time later than the usual payday.
