Of course he has the freedom of speech to say whatever comes into his mind. And, of course, there can be and are consequences if those statements cross lines determined by the law.
Does anyone like living in a country where political figures, poll workers and jurists are constantly subject to threats of violence against themselves and their families? Mitt Romney’s budget for protection is $5000/week, because he dared to vote to impeach the “Exalted One”. There was actually a time when our presidents walked the streets unescorted. Now, it seems like half the country’s law enforcement community has to be organized, so one can go on a bike ride or go to McDonalds. Poll workers have to have police escorts to protect them from those convinced they are complicit in our elections being “rigged”. I’m sorry to admit how many people, I otherwise respect, have said something like, “I wish someone would just shoot him/her”.
Wanna-be dictators all around the world now warn us that up-coming elections are all “rigged”, unless THEY are elected. Can somebody, please, publish a copy of the playbook they are using, so we can all see how obvious this ploy is?
While we have the freedom of to say what we want to, there is a decorum, a diplomatic well-established way of saying and doing things that separates the civilized from the unruly [civilization from the wilderness] and prudence from ignorance. It is difficult for people to follow the ambiguous, ad hoc, unwritten [tribal/cult-like] policies of the extreme right as there are no documents that spell out the details of how they will effectively unite/govern all of the people and achieve prosperity and opportunity for everyone.
Classicist & historian Victor Davis Hanson (Stanford professor) ways Trump is a Classic Greek Tragic Hero: someone whose larger-than-life qualities his nation needed, but who will ultimately be shunned by the nation he saved, because of those same qualities.
I can think of a simpler way. but it’s illegal. the Rosenbergs called. they want their lives back. how come only WASPS are allowed to grab America’s nuclear secrets by the pudenda?
Well, he has admitted on National Television that he KNEW that he lost but that he was going to go ahead with his “Rigged Election” nonsense anyway…I can’t wait to see what else he admits to.
Former President Donald Trump said Sunday that he didn’t respect lawyers and members of his campaign who told him he lost the 2020 presidential election, and that it was his decision to buy into the theory that the election was rigged.
“In many cases, I didn’t respect them,” Trump said during an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” when asked why he decided to ignore his lawyers and advisers who told him he lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden. “But I did respect others. I respected many others that said the election was rigged.”
All this about “free speech” belies the understanding that when you are charged with a crime in America you may have some or all of your civil liberties suspended while the matter is being adjudicated. If you are granted release pre-trial you often have to live with conditions like staying in a certain geographical area and wear a GPS monitor. If you are considered dangerous, even in Illinois, where cash bail has been abolished, you might have to stay in jail for the duration. Trump is lucky he isn’t restricted to the county he lives in or even his compound at Mar-A-Lago.
Once someone in America is charged with a crime it is customary for them to give up some or even all of their civil liberties while the matter makes its way through the system. He has been given a lot of leeway already in that he hasn’t been restricted to his home county, placed under house arrest, or even jailed.
Do you think he honestly believes he can intimidate Judge Chutkan?
I think he’s so afraid of her that he’s lashing out desperately. His fragile, privileged male(?) ego can’t handle the fact that, not only does this woman have power over him, but she’s a strong, intelligent, Black woman. Things he simply cannot abide.

The only way to shut up Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin’s boy toy, the hitler loving, very first American dictator wannabe is to put a ball gag on him.

Trump is absolute proof there are two tiers of justice. Anyone else would be buried under the jail.

After his bombshell admittance yesterday, (we all knew it but he refused to admit), he needs duct tape across that pie hole.
He thinks he can skirt the law….well his time is running out…methinks!

Maybe something like a swear jar and every time he violates the order he has to drop 20 million in it. That should shut the cheap bas***d up.

Just lock him up until his trial. And for crying out loud don’t let him have a phone to post his idiot comments on Social Media
GiantShetlandPony 16 days ago
Lock him up? Anyone else would have been locked up a long time ago for the threats against judges, prosecutors, witness, and potential jurors.
