Texas has incredible influence on textbook publishers and how they construct their teaching materials. I saw it firsthand. Textbooks that other states have no choice in buying. Talk about indoctrination!
Want to know one of the best and most potentially powerful organizations for freedom in America? It the American Library Association. They fight for libraries but also for freedom from censorship and the reigning in of freedom to learn and to think for yourself.

When I first heard this I was sure it was an exaggeration. But then again, one should never count Texas out when comes to doubling down on extreme positions. I teach math. I suppose if I taught in Texas I would have to present the opposing position to 7 times 8 equals 56. (Some say it’s 54, others say it’s 78. Gov. Abbot says it’s the Devil’s Arithmetic.
Fortunately, from the various news reports of this incident, absolutely no one (on the record, anyway) has voiced support for teaching “alternatives” to the history of the Holocaust, though Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” would be the perfect choice. “Now, offering a supporting view of mass genocide, is . . .”
