Hey GOP, why was it unpatriotic to criticize Bush but it is OK to criticize Obama?

Joel, good one. Quite an accurate reading of reality.

GaryK, excellent point. I’d forgotten about that little gem.

IF the Dems had really put up as much a fight against stupidly invading Iraq as the Repugs are now putting up against EVERY program to benefit Americans, we would have been better off.

Yes, Gary K makes an excellent, and understated, point from a multitude of unaccounted sins.

Wonders how ANandy, scottfreitas, and tjanus manage to live given that it appears that all they do all day everyday is spew anti-american garbage on political cartoon commentaries.

I also seriously question whether they are ‘real’ and not ‘college republicans’ paid by the increasingly bizarre party of Karl Rove.

Cute and funny? Were you lurking over at DU, perhaps? I think most people were just as angry at the comparisons then as they are to it now.

Mind you, imo at least with the Patriot act or the warmongering there was some, albeit very slight, connection you could make with Bush. With Obama, it is what… rumors that late at night he’s drinking schnaps, laughing maniacally and planning to nationalize the industry? That the slightly-higher-taxes-for-wealthy-and-tax-breaks-only-for- middle-and-lower-class would mutate into communism a la Mao (still not Hitler)? Where’s the beef?

Heck, if people compared him to Lenin it would still be exaggeated and tasteless, but less absurd.

“Just like the pictures of Bush with a Hitler moustache were cute and funny”

What? Never saw that one. Got a link?

I know Rall did a strip on the Bush-Hitler comparisons, btw (and it didn’t portray Bush in a good light), but I’m not sure Bush-O was done with a ‘stache. Then again, someone on the internet was probably tasteless enough to do it /shrug.

Not to be petty, but if it was Rall, that’s moderately different since he’s been skewering Obama with equal venom.

Godwin’s Law (also known as Godwin’s Rule of Nazi Analogies)

Godwin’s Law is a humorous observation made by Mike Godwin in 1990 which has become an Internet adage. It states: “As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1.”
