Once Colorado realizes their first year’s tax intake from Netherlands style tourism, others will follow. Skiing has never been so fun again! Heck people might even vacation in Jersey if they went legal.
I think it is time we legalized drugs. They should be sold by licensed dealerships created by the states. Then they could be standardized for purity, and users could be given information which might keep them from killing themselves. Users could be steered away from more dangerous substances and towards safer alternatives.
Crime would go down, and the profits used by drug cartels to enrich themselves and buy political power would end. There would be fewer drug murders in Mexico, among other places.
Instead, the profits from state sales of drugs could be used to treat drug addicts.
I don’t use drugs, and never have. I don’t drink, either, past about a beer a week in hot weather after mowing the lawn. I just think it makes sense. Didn’t we learn anything during Prohibition? Jeesh…
Simple fact: legalizing pot would cut law enforcement and jail costs in the U.S. by about 60+%. It would also bring in tax money, which could be used to crack down on actually dangerous drugs like Meth/opiates/illegally possessed “prescription” drugs (Like Limbaugh’s love). Then make these illegal drug dealers ingest whatever product they have on them, and book ’em into the morgue, again saving prosecution and incarceration costs!
I’d also have the time to read the answer to my question. Good for you that you donate your time to the treatment of stupidity. How do you do that? Is there an organization that you work with? Or do you free-lance?
