Morin hits a homer with this one …
LimDumbo and others must either think the public is very stupid or they’re too distracted to remember we’ve been cutting taxes (mostly for rich & business) for seven years and look where it got us
definition of insanity is continuing to do the same old thing and expect different results
Spending got out out of the great depression. Economists think we should spend to stimulate the economy. More tax cuts will not help us out of this mess, spending will.
harlequinn, who’s this ‘we’? Many people (even at least one Republican) pointed out the wasteful spending that gushed out of the Republican congress and was rubber stamped by the Republican President.
harleyq … you said it yoursel we spent more than we made. That was growth? About like me claiming that I have a better life style because I put everything on my credit card. GUESS WHAT, the bill is due. All that “growth” during W’s years is shrinking. So , now enlighten the masses, how do you plan to correct this problem since the whole d@mned government’s got it all wrong?
The ecomomy grew under Bush because of the tax cuts?
Yes, in the SHORT TERM tax cuts help…but only in the short term. In the long term they come back to bite you in the tush.
But the bottom line is, you’re shouting into the wind. Nobody but the small remaining minority of Bush loyalists is going to believe that econmy imporved under Bush….and let me tell you why they won’t.
The average American doesn’t need to read facts and figures to see how the economy is doing. He sees that every time he goes to the gas pump, goes to the grocery store, or goes into work, or goes to the bank.
And NONE of that got better for the average Joe under Bush.
So go ahead…keep insisting that the economy grew under Bush.
You’re just wasting your breath and that’s no great loss either.
Look, it’s very simple. Even Bush himself made it clear. When times were good, he said “cut taxes.” When the market started tanking, he said “cut taxes.” Blindly cutting taxes isn’t the same as intelligently directed spending. And let us note that the government spending ballooned under Bush - but all on the credit card from China. Like Reagan, he talked a good game, but was a total hypocrite. He spent money he didn’t have.
LOL- this has been the thinking since Reagan- government bad- tax cuts de-regulation bad. I’m 66 years old and this is the worst economy I have ever seen. We need to rebuild the infrastructure and get people back to work.
Conservatives alway accuse Dems of being spendthrifts…then when you bring up all the wild spending that went on when Bush and the Republicans were in charge they always say, “I was against that too.”
And the key word here is ‘too’.
You NEVER heard a conservative complaining about Bush and the Republicans’ spending spree unless a Democrat brought it up. Otherwise, they never mentioned it.
And I will tell you something else: In the last eight years, I never once saw a conservative, on ANY forum, start a thread decrying the Bush/Republican spending spree.
But Bush DID say after 9/11 “go spend”, like on high priced gas, and imported items we used to manufacture here at home before his guys exported all the infrastructure.

Just a quick dose of reality:
The economy did NOT grow under Bush. It bubbled up and then burst.

That’s what righties DO…
Post their opinions as facts and then accuse anyone who disputes their opinions of ‘believing what they want to believe’.

Republicans = A Noun, A Verb and Tax Cuts.
If they want tax cuts so bad, how about stop sending federal “tax dollars” to the red states for any of their projects?
