Now that is exactly why I don’t watch TV, although, I do watch videos occasionally…I prefer wasting my time here at GC….(_)

The best part about TV is being forced to pay for all the worst channels that no one ever watches.

Not only has the content degraded but after YouTube, Netflix, etc, I can’t stand the commercials.

Tell me about it. I remember when The Sci-Fi Channel (I refuse to use that inane name SyFy) used to show REAL science-fiction shows and movies as well as Mystery Science Theater 3000. Nowadays it’s “un-reality” crap like “Face Off” and schlocky horror movies like “Sharknado”. This is why I now watch Comet instead.

And 10 minutes of commercials for every 5 minutes of anything else. TV is digging its own grave.

Haven’t had cable (or satellite) since 1994. Haven’t missed it yet.

I have Curiosity Stream and it shows lots of science, history and other shows. Mostly British, btw, Americans have little interest in any of that stuff.

DVR’s, worth every penny.

You forgot MTV. You know the channel that started out as a source for music videos, then gave us the golden treasure of The Jersey Shore.

Kill your television

Get an antenna and a Tablo. Very cheap, no cable bill at all, and you can get everything. Of course, everything isn’t worth much, but at least that’s what you’re paying for it.

Before you know it some idiot from a reality TV show will run for President and get elected.

The short and simple is “NO” there are few cable channels worth watching anymore. And to get the few shows I might like (cooking,news and the odd nature show) required subscribing to 7 bundles for $88 Cnd a month. ~150 channels, most duplicate programming and probably 20 are pushing streaming services.

Years ago there were perhaps five channels available and the hard part was deciding what to watch. Today there are over a hundred channels and there is usually nothing of interest on.

Back when I still had cable, I was surfing around, and every channel, including history and geography was airing some version of "Bubba out in the garage, makin’ somethin’.

I used to watch History Channel and then it turned into reality shows. I don’t miss it at all. I don’t even know the channel number – it’s been so long ago that they showed ‘History’.

Bravo used to air operas and foreign films 30 years ago. Now, it’s just garbage reality shows.

I’m still sore over what WTF happened to A&E. I loved it when it was the “Arts & Entertainment” channel.

We only have Netflix and YouTube now. Stopped paying for cable about 8 years ago. Best decision ever made. We thought about stopping even Netflix for a while, but just can’t give up the Great British Baking Show.

Try FMovies.to. As far as I can tell, several years ago a couple of guys started posting pirated movies that were still showing in the theaters. They were busted, of course, and ended up moving their operation to the island nation of Tonga, (.to), where copyright laws are not recognized. Now, they have just about every movie ever produced in any country along with all current and past tv shows from around the world. Beware, however, they make their $ by using pop up advertising, some of which is nsfw.

I remember the glory days of Bravo and AMC.

With all the free programming available, why would anyone pay to watch TV? All right, I do pay for the Hallmark Channels, but that’s for the better half. Peace does have it’s price.

Fox News is still the same as it’s always been: fake news by an entertainment channel.

Don’t forget the cooking channel that doesn’t have any real cooking shows.

Has nobody (else) on this page ever heard of PBS?

The last panel should have been Investigation Discovery.

The crappier cable gets, the better PBS looks. Their news programming hasn’t turned into infotainmentmercials. The rest of their programming demonstrates integrity over profit. Become a member, it’s worth it.

I bought two TVs when I moved to a new Apt. 6 years ago. I have never used them as Tv only watch DVDs on them.

I watch a lot of documentaries now.

Same with The Food Network. No real cooking, only reality shows.

I thought he was making up those names, but i recognized “90 day bonehead” and realized that’s a real show! My lady friend got caught up in it. I don’t watch tv so i can’t speak to the “quality” of the show.
